Stockwell Named Prime Performer of the Week

EASTON, Mass. (October 20, 2022) – Stonehill College women's swimming captain Sydney Stockwell (Hopkinton, N.H./Hopkinton) earned herself Northeast Conference (NEC) Prime Performer of the Week following the team's first home dual meet of the season against Merrimack College. 

The Skyhawks had their first official division one meet under new leadership with head coach Matthew Distler (SUNY New Paltz, '14). The Skyhawks won their first dual with multiple event winners earning themselves 148 points, with Merrimack earning 112.

Highlights

Junior Sydney Stockwell made a splash at the first meet for the Skyhawks, earning herself four event wins: 

  • First in the women's 200-yard medley relay, along with Taylor Belanger, Katie Keating, and Iz Nelson (1:53.34)
  • First in the women's 100-yard backstroke (59.87)
  • First in the women's 200-yard backstroke (2:14.31)
  • First in the women's 100-yard butterfly (1:01.41)

Stonehill competes in their next meet against Central Connecticut University at the Jack Suydam Natatorium in New Britain, Connecticut on Friday, October 20th at 11 a.m., in hopes to turn their first win into a streak.
