Brodahl leads Skyhawks over three rounds tied for 45th overall

CANTON, Mass. (September 26, 2023) – Stonehill College wrapped up play under tough scoring conditions in the third round of the 2023 Red Bandanna Intercollegiate, hosted by Boston College, at the 6,137-yard, par-72 layout at Blue Hills Country Club today.

Freshman Helen Brodahl led four first-year collegians in the Stonehill lineup by following up her two rounds in the 70s on Monday with a third round 86 to finish tied for 45th overall at 239 (76-77-86). She posted Stonehill's low round of the day once again, carding two birdies on the par-four second hole and par-four sixth to finish tied for tenth with her team-high seven birdies over the last two days.

Stonehill finished with a 1,016 team score over the three rounds in two days, posting a 356 score in today's third round. Host Boston College took team honors with a three-round score of 897 (278-298-302) to edge Sacred Heart University (305-295-301=901) by four shots, with Elon University moving up two spots today to finish third at 913 (306-304-303). Quinnipiac University's Leeyen Peralta earned medalist honors, finishing the three rounds at six-over-par 222 (77-72-73) to hold off the charge of Sacred Heart's Margot Rouquette, who moved 13 spots up the leaderboard with her one-under-par third round score of 71 to finish seven-over-par overall at 223 (78-74-71).

  • Freshman Sydney Hidalgo finished tied for 75th overall with her three-round score of 251 after her round of 87 today, shooting five-over-par 41 on the back nine – her first nine of the day.
  • Freshman Kenna Roman finished tied for 83rd, along with classmate Carol Pignato with three round scores of 264. Roman posted a third round 91 today, while Pignato carded a 93.
  • Senior co-captain Hannah Pignato had the only birdie on the course for Stonehill other than Brodahl, hers coming on the par-three 13th hole, on her way to a 92 today to finish 89th overall at 279.

Stonehill is right back in action this weekend, when it competes at the Navy Fall Invitational, hosted by the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Club in Annapolis, Maryland, on Saturday and Sunday.
