TYRONE, Pa. (October 28, 2022) - The Stonehill College men's cross country team turned in a solid debut at the Northeast Conference (NEC) Cross Country Championships, turning in a fourth-place team finish in the championship, hosted by Saint Francis (Pa.) University at the B&D Acres Course today.

Stonehill took fourth-place with 99 points, well in front of fifth place LIU (121 points). Wagner College took the team title by eight points, finishing with 37, while Central Connecticut State University earned runner-up honors with 45. Merrimack College finished just ahead of the Skyhawks in third with 85 points.

Stonehill was led by the All-NEC performance of senior Colin Black  who finished 11th in the field of 90 runners by completing the eight-kilometer course in 26:15. It marks the second All-Conference performance of his collegiate career after finishing 14th at the 2021 Northeast-10 Conference Championships.

Wagner freshman Jean Uminski took the individual title in 24:35.9 – nearly 20-seconds better than the field. The Seahawks placed three runners in the top five in winning the team title as well.

"Our men ran tough, but with Reilly getting hurt in the first mile, it made things more challenging," said Stonehill Hall of Fame Head Coach Karen Boen. "Every team in every sport experiences adversity. These guys fought a great battle which is a testimony to their perseverance and their commitment to one another."
