Men's Cross Country Takes Fourth Place In Division I Debut At Vermont Invitational

BURLINGTON, Vt. (September 3, 2022)- The Stonehill men's cross country team opened their 2022 season competing in the Vermont Invitational Saturday afternoon. The Skyhawks ended up finishing in fourth place with UMass Lowell winning the event followed by UMass Amherst, and Vermont in second and third place respectively. 

Highlights

  • Colin Black paced the Skyhawks Saturday afternoon with a top-10 finish (eighth) when he crossed the finish line at 25:58.20. With his time Saturday, Black set a new personal best on an 8k course which topped his previous best of 26:09.5 set last year at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational. 
  • Meanwhile, Connor Hughes capped off the top-30 for Stonehill with his 28th place finish at 27:05.80. 

Other Performances

  • Jace Hollenbach saw a 31st place finish at 27:20.80. Not far behind was Patrick Garratt who came in 37th place (27:37.20) and right next to him was Andrew Janus at 38th place at 27:49.20. 
  • Nickolas McNamee crossed the finish line in 40th place with a time of 28:05.30 and just a few spots later were Reilly Johnston and Thomas Forde in 45th place (28:30.30) and 46th place (28:33.30). For Forde, today's meet marked his collegiate debut. 
  • Capping off the runners on the day for the Skyhawks was Steven Galatis who came in 48th place (29:23.40). Galatis also made his collegiate debut in Saturday afternoon's meet.
