Two Second Half Goals Lift Saint Rose Past Men’s Soccer, 2-0

ALBANY, N.Y. (October 19, 2021) - The College of Saint Rose struck for a pair of goals within a two-minute span over the opening five minutes of the second half to secure a 2-0 victory over Stonehill College in Northeast-10 Conference men's soccer action at Sullivan Field at the Pulmeri Sports Complex tonight.

The Details

  • A drive from end-to-end resulted in the first goal of the game, after Kevin Winglosky controlled the ball nearly into the box, he dished it off to Harry Soederlind who sent a shaky cross that was nearly rejected by a Stonehill defender, but found the foot of August Carl Jorius who was waiting just outside the left side of the goal, and then the back of the net.
  • After Stonehill got the ball back and sent it into their offensive half of the field, Saint Rose drew their first corner of the half, and Victor Heinriksen, left alone, was able to head the insertion into the top middle of the net. Once again Stonehill's defense nearly saved the day as sophomore Jacob Woznicki tried to head the header attempt over the goal but was just unable to clear the shot which found the underside of the crossbar.
  • Junior Andrew Hammersley faced 15 shots on the day, six on goal, with four saves.
