EASTON, Mass. (September 25, 2021) - Stonehill College notched its first Northeast-10 Conference win with a commanding 4-1 triumph over Southern Connecticut State University in men's soccer action on Skyhawk Field this afternoon.

The Details

  • Junior Aidan O'Sullivan scored a pair of goals 59-second apart to send Stonehill on its way to the victory, while sophomore Shon Ryan delivered three assists for the match.
  • O'Sullivan's opening goal came 16:23 into the match when he took a pass of Ryan's corner at the upper left corner of the 18 and fired a shot through the box that got a deflection off a Southern defender before tucking inside the right post for first goal of his collegiate career.
  • O'Sullivan added his second career goal just 59-seconds later to put the Skyhawks up a pair just 17:22 into the match, taking another pass from Ryan and firing a low shot from 30 yards into left side of the goal.

    Southern pulled one goal back in the 33rd minute as freshman Leroy Best off a feed from senior Juan Alava.
  • Stonehill responded less than four minutes later when freshman Iago Luiz De Sousa-Vieira delivered his team-leading seventh goal of the season, assisted by Ryan and brother, Paddy Ryan, in the 36th minute.
  • Stonehill eliminated any doubt to the result in the 76th minute as freshman Colby Meyer potted his first collegiate goal.
  • Junior Andrew Hammersley) finished with three saves in the Stonehill goal.

Stonehill (4-4, 1-2 NE10) is off until next Saturday, when it visits the University of New Haven for an NE10 math at 1 p.m. The Skyhawks return home on Wednesday, October 2, to host rival Bentley University at Skyhawk Field at 3 p.m. Southern Conn.
