SYRACUSE, N.Y. (November 8, 2009) - The Stonehill College volleyball team had its postseason plans dashed with a 3-1 (25-21, 21-25, 25-16, 25-17) setback to Le Moyne College in Northeast-10 Conference volleyball action at Ted Grant Court today.

Stonehill (15-11, 9-6 NE-10) would have clinched the fifth seed in next weekend's Northeast-10 Tournament win a win, instead finished in a five-way tie for fifth with Le Moyne, Pace University, American International College and Southern Connecticut State University. The Skyhawks finished at the bottom of the NE-10 tiebreaker procedure as a result of its 0-4 record this year against those teams. Le Moyne (17-9, 9-6 NE-10) earns a spot in the NE-10 Tournament with the win and will be the six seed and battle third-seeded Bentley University in a quarterfinal match on Friday at UMass Lowell.


Sophomore Laura Huselton notched a double-double with 12 kills and 13 digs.

Senior Kaylin Brainerd (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) led Le Moyne with 46 assists, eight digs and three kills. Classmate Elizabeth Cheek (Huntington Beach, Calif./Rosary) posted a double-double with 14 kills with only one error on 41 total attacks for a .317 hitting percentage, to go with 15 digs. Freshman Bethany Fabian (Lake View, N.Y./Frontier) added ten kills, 11 digs and two blocks, while junior Krista Prentice (Amherst, N.Y./Sweet Home) chipped in ten kills, 13 digs, three blocks and two service aces.

Sophomore Laura Huselton (Penfield, N.Y./Penfield) contributed 12 kills and 13 digs, while junior Erin Johnson (Centerville, Mass./Barnstable) posted 11 kills, 13 digs and two aces. Junior Andrea Wirth (Mesa, Ariz./St. Mary's) dished out 45 assists and classmate Justine Thompson (Merrimack, N.H./Bishop Guertin) chipped in a match-high 22 digs.

Le Moyne hit .297 as a team for the match, including a .377 percentage over the final two sets. The Dolphins sealed the win by hitting .438 in the third set and .324 in the fourth and final set.
