Campbell Named NE-10 Track Rookie Of The Week


Freshman Paige Campbell earns her second career NE-10 Track Rookie of the Week award.

Lexington, Mass. native placed seventh in 800-meter run with time of 2:24.72 at Yellow Jacket Invitational

EASTON, Mass. (April 9, 2015) – Stonehill College freshman Paige Campbell (Lexington, Massachusetts/Lexington) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Women's Track Rookie of the Week for the second time in her career, the league office announced yesterday.

Campbell and the Skyhawks opened their outdoor season last Saturday at the fifth annual Yellow Jacket Invitational, hosted by American International College in Springfield, Massachusetts. Stonehill placed third out of 14 teams competing and first among Division II programs with 75.5 total points.

In her lone event of the day, Campbell contributed three points towards Stonehill's team score with her seventh-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:24.72. Senior Sarah Wilson (West Suffield, Connecticut/Suffield) also competed in the 800, finishing third overall in 2:18.05.

Campbell was also recognized as NE-10 Track Rookie of the Week following her performance at Stonehill's indoor season-opening meet, the UMass Boston Open on December 6th. Making her collegiate debut, the freshman placed third in the 800 and clocked in at 2:20.92.

A 2014 graduate of Lexington High School, Campbell was a two-time Middlesex league All-Star for both indoor and outdoor track & field. She was also a member of the National Honor Society and earned the Coaches Award for outdoor track as a senior.

Stonehill will be back in action this Saturday at the Minuteman Invitational, hosted by the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
