EASTON, Mass. (February 11, 2015) Stonehill College sophomore Nicole Borofski (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North) and the women's 4x400-meter relay team have earned weekly track & field honors from the Northeast-10 Conference, the league office announced yesterday.

Borofski was named Track Athlete of the Week for the first time in her career, while the 4x400-meter relay team of senior All-American Maria Curit (Biddeford, Maine/Biddeford) and juniors Jordan Gray (Warwick, Rhode Island/Toll Gate), Leanne Kent (North Andover, Massachusetts/Central Catholic), and Jeana Esernio (Stony Brook, New York/Ward Melville) has been selected as NE-10 Relay of the Week. Both Borofski and the 4x400-meter relay team posted NCAA Championship provisional qualifying performances on Saturday at the URI Coaches Tribute Meet, hosted by the University of Rhode Island at Mackal Fieldhouse in Kingston, Rhode Island.

Borofski, who turned in a time of 5:06.18 in the 1-mile run three weekends ago at the Tufts University Invitational, improved on that time on Saturday, as she placed second overall and clocked in at 5:01.00. Her adjusted time of 4:58.05 currently ranks 18th in NCAA Division II.

Borofski has now provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships, which will be held at the CrossPlex Complex in Birmingham, Alabama on March 13th-14th, in two events. The sophomore posted a program record time of 9:58.26 in the 3000-meter run on January 24th at the URI Sorlien Invitational to meet the provisional qualifying standard.

A two-time All-East Region and All-Conference performer with Stonehill's women's cross country program, Borofski was named NE-10 Rookie of the Year in 2013 and has competed with the Skyhawks at each of the last two NCAA Cross Country Championships. She was named Cross Country Athlete of the Week three times last fall, giving her four career weekly honors from the NE-10 for cross country/track & field.

Stonehill's 4x400-meter relay becomes the second Skyhawk relay to provisionally qualify for the NCAA Championships in the last two weeks, as the 4000-meter distance medley relay accomplished the same feat on January 31st at the Boston University John Thomas Terrier Classic with a time of 11:43.44.

The 4x400-meter relay placed second on Saturday with a time of 3:53.61, which ranks 23rd nationally when adjusted for the flat track at URI. Gray ran the opening leg in 57.6 seconds, followed by Kent in 58.7 seconds and Esernio in 60.5 seconds, before Curit completed the anchor leg in 56.8 seconds.

Curit, who has already collected a pair of NE-10 Track Athlete of the Week honors this season, is being recognized by the conference office with a weekly award for the 12th time in her career, with nine coming as part of Skyhawk relay teams. Gray garners weekly honors from the NE-10 for the ninth time in her career, while Esernio and Kent earn their fifth and fourth such accolades, respectively.

Stonehill, which is ranked No. 19 in this week's U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division II National Computer Rankings, will be back in action on Friday at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, hosted by Boston University at the BU Track & Tennis Center.
