CSCAA Announces Spring 2021 Scholar All-America Teams

Five NE10 Swimming Programs Earn Scholar All-America honors

EASTON, Mass. (June 29, 2021) – The Stonehill College women's swimming program, under the direction of head coach Caleb Potvin, finished its first academic year by being named a Scholar All-America squad by the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) for the second-straight semester for having a grade point average over 3.0 during the spring.

Stonehill, in its first season after being added as the College's 22nd varsity athletic program in September 2019, earned a 3.72 grade point average for the spring 2021 semester – good for first among the five Northeast-10 Conference programs recognized and seventh nationally among the NCAA Division II women's programs cited. The Skyhawks' six student-athletes include sophomores Nika Sokolova and Maggie Timmoney and freshmen Maddie Conley, Morgan Gangi, Katie Keating and Sydney Stockwell.

Stonehill is among 721 swimming and diving teams from 424 institutions nationwide across all three NCAA divisions, as well as the NAIA, to earn Scholar All-America status. It marks the second-straight semester the Skyhawks have received the honor, having collected the status for the first time following the fall semester with a 3.47 GPA.

Founded in 1922, the CSCAA, is the nation's first organization of college coaches. The mission of the CSCAA is to advance the sport of swimming and diving with coaches at the epicenter of leadership, advocacy, and professional development.

Stonehill, in conjunction with the NE10, announced in mid-December that it would not participate in intercollegiate athletic competition during the 2020-21 academic year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The Skyhawks were able to conduct team activities during the academic year, participating in a series of virtual meets during the spring semester, in preparation for its much anticipated first official season of competition in 2021-22, the schedule of which is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
