Men's Indoor Track and Field Posts Multiple Top 10 Finishes Saturday At River Hawk Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. (January 28, 2023)- The Stonehill College men's indoor track and field team continued their season Saturday at the River Hawk Invitational where the squad saw three top 10 finishers Saturday.

Highlights

  • King once again posted a top-10 finish as he came in third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.83 seconds. His time marked a new career-best and it is also the third fastest time in all of the Northeast Conference
  • Colin Black was another top 10 finisher for the Skyhawks Saturday as the senior made his 2023 season indoor debut. Black competed in the 5,000-meter where he posted an eighth-place finish when he crossed the finish line at 15:10.39. His time marked the fourth fastest time in the NEC. 
  • Stonehill's third top 10 finisher was Jacob Pacheco in the pole vault where he leaped 4.45 meters (14' 7.25"). Pacheco's mark is tied for second in the NEC as he is only just .04 off the top spot.

Other Performances

  • Parker Hagen had a solid day for the squad as the sophomore notched two top-20 finishes highlighted by his 11th-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 12.83m (42' 1.25"). Meanwhile, in the long jump, he came in 21st at 5.92m (19' 5.25").
  • Along with King's finish in the 200-meter dash, the rest of Stonehill's runners represented themselves well in a crowded field of 124 that included a 15th-place finish by Shea Drugan (22.24). Drugan's time is also a top 10 mark in the NEC (10th) as he and King are the only duo from a school besides Wagner to have two spots in the top-10 of the 200-meter.
  • The Skyhawks saw two other runners place within the top half of the 124 which included Andrew Morin at 23.10 (55th) and John Paulhamus (59th) at 23.15.
  • In the 3,000-meter, Stonehill had two runners place within the top-25 led by Reilly Johnston who made his 2023 indoor debut with a time of 8:42.56. Shortly after Johnston, Aidan Byrne crossed the finish line at 8:52.87 for 22nd place. Byrne's time in the 3,000-meter also marked a new personal best for the junior. 
  • Led by Black's eighth-place finish in the 5,000-meter, Stonehill had three other runners join Black for four top-25 finishers. Jace Hollenbach set a new career-best with a time of 15:17.98 for an 11th-place finish and not far behind was Patrick Garratt in 15th place at 15:33.55. Finally, Andrew Janus rounded out the Skyhawks top 25 finishers with a 19th-place finish at 15:46.16. 
  • Connor Hughes led the squad in the mile run with a top-20 finish (16th) as he crossed the finish line at 4:20.45 for a new personal record. 
  • In shotput, Jonathan Scampoli led the squad with a toss of 1212.61 meters41' 4.5") in 34th place and, right behind him was Michael Gozzo with the same mark. Just outside the top-40 was Tyler Thomas as he came in 44th with a throw of 11.36 meters (37' 3.25").
