Stonehill Softball to Host Third Annual Coach Ken LeGrice Day Before Regular Season Finale

Coach Ken LeGrice led the Skyhawks for 12 seasons, accumulating a program-record 197 wins before his passing in 2021.

EASTON, Mass. (April 22, 2024) – The Stonehill College Softball team has scheduled the third annual Coach Ken LeGrice Day in memory of the legendary Skyhawk head coach for its regular season finale on Sunday, May 5 at noon versus Central Connecticut State University at Fr. Gartland Field.

Coach Ken served 12 seasons as head coach of the Stonehill softball program, leading the Skyhawks until his passing in May of 2021 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Coach Ken graduated from Northeastern University in 1982, served 34 years for the Brockton Police Department, and was a member of the Stonehill softball program for 17 years, 12 of which as head coach.

LeGrice guided the Skyhawks to a program-record 197 wins and six Northeast-10 Conference Tournament appearances. We continue to celebrate the impact Coach Ken made in the Stonehill community as a teacher, mentor, and friend as well as his service to the local community.

As part of the Stonehill Softball Alumnae Weekend celebrations, fans and alumnae are welcome to participate in the pregame breakfast tailgate 30 minutes before the first pitch on Sunday's game. Before the season finale, a prayer service will be held on the field for Coach Ken followed by the LeGrice family throwing out the ceremonial first pitch.

The Brockton Police Color Guard will present the flag and its colors before the playing of the national anthem and then the Skyhawks will close out their winningest season at the Division I level. A post-game meet-up for all Stonehill Alumnae will be held at Stoneforge Grill.
