Fayed Earns Second-Straight NE-10 Player of the Week Award

Glastonbury, Conn., native honored fourth time this season overall

EASTON, Mass. (March 30, 2011) – Stonehill College senior Tim Fayed (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) has earned Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week honors for men's tennis for the second-straight week by the Conference office.

Fayed, who earns Player of the Week honors for the fourth time this season (12th career) winning all four matches in a 2-0 week for Stonehill in singles and doubles play. He was 2-0 at No. 1 singles, opening with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Saint Michael's College freshman Nick Bosco on Saturday before gutting out a 7-6 (7-2), 6-7 (5-7), 10-7 victory over sophomore Filip Van Eylen of New York Institute of Technology on Sunday, rallying from 1-6 down in the super tiebreak third set. Fayed also combined with sophomore Chris Martin (Darien, Conn./Darien) for two wins at first doubles.

Fayed, ranked 13th in the ITA East Regional rankings, has won 11-straight singles matches and is 13-3 in singles play for Stonehill this season, including a 9-2 clip in dual match play at No. 1 singles. He captured the A-flight singles title at the Stonehill Invitational in October and has posted a combined 8-4 doubles mark, including a 5-1 clip with Martin as his playing partner at first doubles, winning five-straight matches.

Fayed, the 2009 NE-10 Player of the Year, is a three-time All-Northeast-10 performer in singles play. He has posted a career singles record of 60-13, including a 28-4 clip in Conference play. Fayed is also a three-time All-NE-10 doubles performer, compiling a 58-20 doubles mark, featuring a 27-4 record against NE-10 competition.

Stonehill (7-4, 2-1 NE-10), ranked ninth in the most recent ITA East Regional rankings released March 9, is back in action on Friday when it hosts Le Moyne College for a key Northeast-10 dual match at the Brown Billone Club in Easton at 2:30 p.m.
