Bergeron a double-winner for Skyhawks
Freshman Chris Barnhart (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) led the double-winners for Merrimack as he rallied for a 3-6, 6-3, 6-0 win over Stonehill senior Tim Fayed (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury), ranked 12th in the region, at No. 1 singles. Barnhart also teamed up with junior Max Eppley (Malaga, Spain) for an 8-6 decision over Fayed and freshman Nick Hyzak (Guilford, Conn./Guilford) at first doubles. Eppley also posted a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles.
Sophomore Petar Golijanin (Novi Sad, Serbia) rounded out the double-winners for Merrimack with a 4-6, 6-0, 6-1 win over Stonehill sophomore Chris Martin (Darien, Conn./Darien) at No. 3 singles. He also teamed up with junior Liam Hoare (West Newbury, Mass./Saddlebrook Academy) for an 8-3 decision at third doubles. Senior Tim McHugh (Edgartown, Mass./Martha's Vineyard) and sophomore Chris Toegemann (Narragansett, R.I./Bishop Hendricken) also collected singles wins for the Warriors.
Junior Aaron Bergeron (Gorham, Maine/Gorham) was a double-winner to lead Stonehill after posting a 6-1, 6-2 win over Hoare at No. 4 singles. He also combined with Martin for a 9-7 decision at second doubles over McHugh and Toegemann for the Skyhawks first point of the day.
Stonehill (11-7, 6-4 NE-10) closes out the regular season on Saturday when it hosts Saint Anselm College at Charles Watt Tennis Courts at noon. Merrimack (16-3, 10-0 NE-10) hosts Bentley University in a key NE-10 match on Saturday at 10 a.m.
