LeGrice Named Head Coach

Easton, Mass. - Ken LeGrice, who has spent the last four years as a member of the Stonehill softball coaching staff, has been promoted to head coach it was announced on Friday by Director of Athletics, Brendan Sullivan.

"We are thrilled to have Ken as our head softball coach," said Sullivan. "His knowledge and commitment to our student-athletes will help the program move forward in the coming years. He is committed to the academic and athletic success of our student-athletes, and that is what makes him an excellent choice to lead Stonehill softball."

LeGrice replaces Stonehill graduate Danielle Delude, who resigned in June after six seasons.

From 2005-08 LeGrice served as an assistant coach before being promoted to associate head coach prior to the start of the 2009 season. In his five years with the program, the Skyhawks posted two winning seasons, including a 23-20 season in 2008, advancing to the Northeast-10 tournament for the first time in more than a decade.

"I would like to thank the College's athletic administration for giving me this opportunity," said LeGrice. "Being entrusted with taking this program to greater heights is something I am honored to do. I look forward to building on the foundation laid by coach Delude and the other people who helped Stonehill softball reach this point."

Before arriving at Stonehill, LeGrice served as an assistant coach at Medfield High during the 2004 season. From 1998-2001, LeGrice was on the staff at Brockton High, helping the Boxers capture the Division I state championship in 2000.

The 2010 edition of Stonehill softball features a wealth of returning talent headlined by a trio of sophomore pitchers in Kaitlin Andrews (Hudson, Mass.), Samantha Krantz (Hampton Bays, N.Y.) and Kellie Reardon (Burlington, Mass.) and classmate Chelsea Stryker (Baldwin, N.Y.), who started all 40 games at shortstop and hit .300 and finished second on the team with 39 hits.

LeGrice, a 1982 graduate of Northeastern University with a degree in criminal justice, is a 23-year veteran of the Brockton Police Department. He and his family reside in Brockton.
