Skyhawks earn All-Conference honors for first time in career

EASTON, Mass. (March 1, 2022) – Stonehill College fifth-year Owen Chose and senior Andrew Sims were both selected to the All-Northeast-10 Conference third team by the league's 14 head coaches, the Conference announced.

Chose and Sims both earn All-NE10 honors for the first time in their careers and give Stonehill 43 All-NE10 selections in program history, including 14 in head coach Chris Kraus', '06 nine years at the helm. They helped the Skyhawks to a 15-12 record overall this season, including 10-9 in the NE10 to earn the program's fourth-straight NE10 Tournament appearance – the 34th in program history overall.

Chose, who became the 42nd 1,000-point scorer in Stonehill men's basketball history, returned for a fifth-year this season and caps his career with All-NE10 recognition for the first time. He is second on the team in scoring with 14.7 points per game (14th) on 40.1-percent shooting, including 35.4% (62-for-175) from three-point distance, while converting 87.5% (35-for-40) of his free-throws. Chose also chips in with 2.7 rebounds in 33.6-minutes per game.

Chose has led Stonehill in scoring in ten games this season, scoring in double-figures 15 times with seven 20-plus point games. He scored a career-high 29 points on 11-of-22 shooting (50-percent), with five three-pointers and six rebounds in the Skyhawks 73-64 win at Le Moyne College on January 8. Chose also enjoyed a run of four-straight games played with 20 or more points, including 27 in an 80-70 win at American International College, between January 22 and February 3.


Sims

Chose, who has been named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll and received Stonehill's Winter Outstanding Junior Award in 2019-20, finished his career ranked 20th on Stonehill's career scoring list with 1,335 points and third with 248 three-point field goals over his 105 career games played. He finished shooting 44.1-percent from the floor, including 40.2% (248-617) from three-point distance, converting 88% (161-183) of his free-throws, adding 223 rebounds, 142 assists and 48 steals over his career. Chose finished second in the NE10 in three-point percentage (.464) as a sophomore in 2019-20, helping the Skyhawks to an NCAA Tournament bid. He posted 62 double-figure scoring games in his career, including 18 20-point games, and led the Skyhawks in scoring 22 times.

Sims, who is expected to return for a fifth-year for Stonehill in 2022-23, earns All-NE10 honors for the first time. He is the Skyhawks top scorer and rebounder with 15.2 points (9th NE10) and 6.2 rebounds per game, shooting 47.7-percent (135-for-283) from the floor and 73.7% (101-137) from the free-throw line, to go with 2.2 assists in 31.8 minutes per game.

Sims has led Stonehill in scoring eight times this season and rebounding 11, posting two double-doubles, scoring in double-figures 17 games, with 20-plus points six times. He scored a season-high 27 points on 10-of-14 shooting, converting 7-of-8 free-throws, with nine rebounds in the Skyhawks season-opening win over Bloomfield College and added a pair of 26-point games in wins over rival Bentley University and Southern Connecticut State University as well.

Sims, who has been named to the NE10's Academic Honor Roll, will enter his final season having scored 715 points with 374 rebounds, 101 assists and 51 blocked shots in 73 career games, shooting 46.7-percent from the floor. He has scored in double-figures 29 times over his career, with eight 20-point games, and six career double-doubles.
