Sattler dishes two assists as four different goal scorers lead Red Flash

EASTON, Mass. (October 22, 2023) – Saint Francis University scored twice in the opening quarter on its way to a 4-0 victory over Stonehill College in a Northeast Conference field hockey matchup on Alumnae Day as part of Homecoming Weekend on Timothy J. Coughlin, '80 Memorial Field at W.B. Mason Stadium this afternoon.

Highlights

  • Freshman Maria Sattler dished out two assists in the first half as Saint Francis got goals from four different players to post its third-straight win.
  • Saint Francis got goals from seniors Claudia Ortiz, Julia Breneman and Olivia Muffitt, as well as junior Eva Valentini in the win.
  • Senior Amber Bryan and freshman Mia DiGenova split the goalkeeping duties for the Red Flash in posting their fourth shutout of the season. Bryan made one save in the first half, while DiGenova added two in the second.
  • Junior Shannon Conte posted her fifth double-digit save total of the season (15th career), finishing with 11 stops in the Stonehill goal.

How It Happened

  • Saint Francis grabbed a two-goal lead in the opening ten minutes with Ortiz following up the play off a penalty corner and lifting a shot off a rebound over Conte and a scrum in front of goal for her third goal of the season 4:01 into the game.
  • Valentini doubled the Red Flash lead five minutes later off a pass from Sattler for her ninth goal of the year with 5:17 to play in the opening quarter.
  • Settler also set up Breneman's fourth goal of the season that gave Saint Francis a three-goal lead at the half 6:10 into the second quarter.
  • Muffitt netted her fourth goal of the season with 2:32 to play to cap the scoring on the afternoon, assisted by sophomore Madison Waldspurger.
