Volleyball Takes Three Straight Against Saint Anselm, 3-0

EASTON, Massachusetts (April, 25, 2021) – The Stonehill College volleyball team defeated Northeast-10 Conference foe Saint Anselm College in three-straight sets, 3-0, Sunday afternoon at Merkert Gymnasium in a spring match with game scores of 33-31, 25-23, 25-21.

How it Happened:

  • The first set saw 18 tied scores, as Saint Anselm was the first to get to 25, but the two teams ended up in set point situation seven times before Stonehill saw kills from Remick and Peragine to take the win, 33-31.  
  • Stonehill held the lead for most of the second game except for when Saint Anselm had a two-point advantage, 12-10. The Hawks .440 hitting percentage in the second game was the highest of the match, even though the Skyhawks ended up on top, 25-23.
  • Stonehill's biggest lead of six happened three times, 24-18. The Hawks tried to fight back with a rally point and then an attack error by the Skyhawks, 20-24, but Stonehill secured match point with a Saint Anselm service error, 25-20.

Stonehill is scheduled to host non-conference opponent Wheaton College for two matches on Friday, April 30 to finish out their spring schedule with the first match to start at 4:00 p.m. at Merkert Gymnasium.
