Daggett finishes eighth in high jump during day three

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (April 3, 2016) – The Stonehill College women's track & field team, ranked first in this week's U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) East Region Computer Rankings, compiled five points against mainly division I competition on its way to a 34^th place finish at the 51^st Colonial Relays, hosted by William & Mary University, at Zable Stadium today.

Freshman Courtney Daggett (Attleboro, Massachusetts/Attleboro) placed eighth in the high jump championship with a height of 5-feet, 3-inches to earn Stonehill a point towards its total, while classmate Ashley Daggett (Attleboro, Massachusetts/Attleboro) finished fourth in the University Division high jump clearing 5-feet, 1-inches.

Freshman Makenzie Cyr (Douglas, Massachusetts/Douglas) led a pair of entries in the University Division 5000-meter run placing 14^th with a time of 18:26.22, while junior Alexandra Grimaldo (Marlborough, Massachusetts/Marlborough) finished in 23^rd place, clocking in at 18:42.49.

Stonehill's 4x800 meter relay team provided the best finish of the day for the Skyhawk relay teams, as it placed 18th overall out of 31 teams with a time of 9:30.44. Senior Erin Carberry (Milton, Massachusetts/Thayer Academy) ran the lead leg, followed by junior Alexandra Buonfiglio (Lynnfield, Massachusetts/Lynnfield), freshman Jillian Caiazzi (Marlborough, Massachusetts/Marlborough) and junior Aisha McAdams (North Kingstown, Rhode Island/North Kingstown) ran the anchor leg.

Stonehill placed 34^th overall with five total points at the conclusion of the 51^st Colonial Relays. Rutgers University finished in first place with 92 points, while Bucknell University finished in second with 81.50.   

Stonehill's 4x400 meter relay team consisting of seniors Jordan Gray (Warwick, Rhode Island/Toll Gate), Jeana Esernio (Stony Brook, New York/Ward Melville), freshman Krista Fernandes (Taunton, Massachusetts/Coyle & Cassidy) and senior Leanne Kent (North Andover, Massachusetts/Central Catholic) finished with a time of 4:00.10, which was good for 19^th place out of 38 entries.

Senior Trisha Pierson (East Hanover, New Jersey/Hanover Park) placed 12^th in the discus throw championship with a distance of 124-feet, 11-inches. Pierson also competed in the shot put where she finished in 26^th place with a heave of 35-feet, 10-inches. Junior Gaelin Farrell (Baldwinville, Massachusetts/Narragansett Regional) also competed in the shot put and came in 19^th place with a throw of 37-feet, .50-inches.

The 1600 sprint medley relay team of Kent, Fernandes, Polvere and senior Molly Hellman (Rumson, New Jersey/Rumson-Fairhaven Regional) placed 23^rd out of 31 teams with a time of 4:21.19.

Stonehill will head to Springfield, Mass. next weekend for the Yellow Jacket Invitational, hosted by American International College at the John G. Hoyt Track & Field Complex.
