Men's Cross Country Caps Season at NCAA II Championships

SAINT LEO, Fla. (November 20, 2021) - Stonehill College, ranked No. 3 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II East Regional rankings, capped its season in 34th place in the team standings at the 2021 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships, hosted by Saint Leo University, in hot and humid conditions at The Abbey Course, in Saint Leo, Florida, this morning.

The Details

  • Grand Valley State University took the team title by a comfortable margin over second place Adams State University (43-84), with Colorado Mines University third with 123 points. The Lakers swept the top two individual places to key their team championship, with senior Isaac Harding taking the individual title in 29:58.3.
  • Junior Reilly Johnston led the Stonehill finishers in 182nd place out of 262 entries overall, completing the ten-kilometer course in 33:45.9. He improved on his only previous nationals appearance by 61 places after finishing 243rd in 2019 (33:50.8).
  • Senior Shane Braz followed in 201st in 34:17.9, marking his second career nationals appearance.
  • Freshman Jace Hollenbach was notable in his first NCAA Championships meet, finishing 226th in 35:15.5, with sophomore Aidan Byrne 228th (35:16.1), junior Andrew Janus 230th (35:26.9) and sophomore Connor Hughes 231st (35:34.7) to round out the Skyhawks finishers.
