Meyer Collects Second-Straight NE-10 Rookie of the Week Award

Ventura, Calif., native selected for second-straight week after three touchdown performance against New Haven

EASTON, Mass. (October 4, 2010) – Stonehill College freshman quarterback Logan Meyer (Ventura, Calif./Saint Bonaventure) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference's Rookie of the Week for football for the second-straight week by the league office this afternoon.

Meyer completed 17-of-28 passes for 182 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions in Saturday's setback to the University of New Haven. He also added a third touchdown on the ground for the Skyhawks. Meyer helped Stonehill build a 14-0 lead in the opening six minutes of the contest with a one-yard scoring rush before adding a 13-yard touchdown pass just 19-seconds later off a New Haven turnover on the kickoff. He threw a three-yard scoring toss in the fourth quarter.

Meyer engineered a nine-play, 55-yard drive on Stonehill's opening possession on Saturday, completing all three pass attempts for 42 yards before finishing the drive with a one-yard plunge on fourth and goal with 9:43 left in the first quarter. His 13-yard touchdown pass to senior Eddie Vachon (Newton, Mass./Blair Academy) just 19-seconds later to put the Skyhawks up 14-0 only 5:36 into the game on first down immediately after the team got possession back after a New Haven fumble on the kickoff. Meyer's third touchdown of the day capped a 16-play, 84-yard drive with a three-yard toss to sophomore John Gomes (Hyannis, Mass./Barnstable) with 3:46 to go in regulation. He completed six-of-nine passes on the drive for 35 yards.

Meyer has started the last three games for Stonehill and has completed 54-of-104 passes (51.9-percent) for 610 yards and five touchdowns with four interceptions for a 109.37 efficiency rating (8th NE-10). He is averaging 203.3 yards per game (7th), adding two rushing touchdowns and his season-long 69-yard completion to sophomore Kyle Norwood (Rehoboth, Del./Cape Henlopen) is the longest scoring pass at Stonehill since a Cruz Parsons to David Pringle 70-yard pass at Bentley University in 2008 and the first 60-plus yard pass overall for the program in nearly two full seasons as well.

Stonehill (2-3, 0-3 NE-10) has its bye week this weekend and will return to action the following Saturday, October 16, when it visits Pace University at 1 p.m. The Skyhawks return home on Saturday, October 23, to host Southern Connecticut State University as part of Family Weekend at the College.
