Women's Cross Country Earns Runner-Up Finish at NE10 Championship Behind Three in Top 10

MANCHESTER, N.H. (October 24, 2021) - Stonehill College, ranked No. 2 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II East Regional rankings, earned a runner-up finish at the 2021 NE10 Cross Country Championships, hosted by Saint Anselm College, led by a trio of top ten performers and five All-NE10 performers overall.

    Senior Rebecca Erhard again led the way for Stonehill, earning All-NE10 first team honors for the first time with her second career All-Conference performance, by leading three Skyhawks in the top ten with her sixth-place finish overall, completing the six-kilometer course in 22:52.6 – just three tenths of a second out of the top five.
  • Freshman Emma Lawrence shined in her first NE10 Championship with an eighth-place finish in 23:05.2 to earn All-NE10 second team honors for her efforts.
  • Fifth-year Jillian Howard finished close behind Lawrence in ninth place to also earn All-NE10 second team honors with her time of 23:15.6. The All-NE10 performance in the second of her career.
  • Rounding out Stonehill's All-NE10 second team performers is junior Victoria Lombardi with her 11th place finish in 23:19.2 to collect All-Conference honors for the first time in her career.
  • Senior Claire Mason rounds out Stonehill's All-NE10 performers with third team honors for her first career All-Conference effort as she finished 18th overall in 23:53.3 as all five scoring Skyhawks finished in the top 20.
  • Stonehill's runner-up finish snaps a streak of 11-straight NE10 Cross Country Championships for the Skyhawks, with American International College taking the first women's title other than Stonehill since UMass Lowell claimed the crown in 2008. The Yellow Jackets swept the top two placed in the individual standings, with Fransiscah Cherotich winning the individual NE10 Championship in 21:20.1.
  • Three more from Stonehill finished in the top 30, out of 135 finishers overall, with junior Elizabeth Marshall 23rd (24:15.1), sophomore Caitlin Swanson 26th (24:17.5) and sophomore Erin Johnston 28th (24:25.2).

Stonehill has next weekend off, before returning to action on Saturday, November 6, for the NCAA Division II East Regional, hosted by Roberts Wesleyan College, in Rochester, New York.
