Thornton Garners NE-10 Honors For Second Straight Week

Adrienne Thornton placed sixth overall and first among D-II and D-III competitiors in the weight throw at the Joe Donahue Games Friday.

Dorchester, Mass. freshman earns Field Rookie of the Week for third time this season.

EASTON, Mass. (January 28, 2013) – Adrienne Thornton (Dorchester, Mass./John D. O'Bryant) of the Stonehill College women's track and field team collected weekly recognition by the Northeast-10 Conference Monday afternoon.

Thornton was named NE-10 Field Rookie of the Week for the third time this season following her performance at the Joe Donahue Games, hosted by Northeastern University, at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Boston, Mass.

The freshman thrower finished sixth overall and first among all Division II and III competitors in the weight throw event. Thornton launched a 50-02.50 throw that fell just two-feet short of her school record measurement of 52-05.50 which she recorded at the URI Sorlien Invitational, January 19, 2013. Thornton also competed in the shot put event where she measured in at 30-11.00.

Next up for the women's track and field team is the URI Coaches Tribute Meet on Friday, February 2, hosted by the University of Rhode Island.
