Women’s Swimming Faces First NE10 Competition at Assumption

WORCESTER, Mass. (November 20, 2021) - The Stonehill College women's swimming team competed against Northeast-10 Conference competition for the first time in the program's young history with four-time NE10 Champions Assumption University posting a 134.00-100.00 dual meet victory at Plourde Recreation Center today.

The Details

  • Stonehill recorded four event wins, along with 16 top three finishes to highlight its day against Assumption.
  • Freshman Jami Hepburn finished second in two of her three of her individual swims and was also part of Stonehill's 200-yard medley relay that finished second to the Greyhounds A-relay team as well. She finished the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:12.32 for second in that event, followed closely by sophomore Morgan Gangi in 1:13.57 for third place.
  • Hepburn was also second in the 200-yard breaststroke, finishing in 2:39.12 for second, while Gangi was close behind in third (2:42.01).

    Hepburn also led four Stonehill swimmers and scored two points in the 50-yard freestyle in 27.72-seconds, followed by freshman Julie Mastroianni at 28.46-seconds and junior Maggie Timmoney in 29.59.
  • Hepburn swam the breaststroke led of Stonehill's 200-yard medley relay that clocked in at 1:56.7. She was joined by sophomore Sydney Stockwell for the lead backstroke leg, and was followed by sophomore Katie Keating for the third butterfly leg, before freshman Sofiya Gobora completed the freestyle anchor leg.
  • Keating took second in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:19.42 for another strong performance for Stonehill today. She was also scored first in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:04.36.
  • Gobora was scored first in the 400-yard individual medley with her solid time of 5:03.70.

Stonehill is off for two weeks, before returning to the pool at the ECAC Winter Championships at the Nassau County Aquatic Center in East Meadow, New York, December 3-5.
