Women's Golf Finishes Third at Golden Knights Orlando Invite

DeBoise leads three Skyhawks in top 11 with sixth place finish after back-to-back rounds of 75

ORLANDO, Fla. (March 28, 2023) – Stonehill College rounded out the Golden Knights Orlando Invitational with a third-place team finish, led by a trio of golfers in the top 11 on the medalist leaderboard, as play concluded today at the event hosted by College of Saint Rose on the 5,801-yard, par 73 layout at Eagle Creek Golf Club.

Stonehill saw three of its five team members post rounds in the 70s, with all five Skyhawks shooting 81 or better today, to post the second-lowest team score of the second round with a 310 to match the second-lowest single round score in program history. The Skyhawks finished with a two-day score of 639 (329-310) as Eckerd College finished off the team title with a four-under-par score of 580 (292-288) over two days, with Franklin Pierce University (314-311=625) second. Stonehill finished ahead of Adelphi University (333-341=674), host Saint Rose (363-361=724) and Saint Anselm College (386-357=743).

Freshman Jaelyn DeBoise led three from Stonehill to finish in the top 11 with a second-straight round of 75 for sixth overall with a two-day score of 150 – three strokes shy of the program's two-day score record. DeBoise carded three birdies on the back nine after shooting a three-over-par 39 on the front nine to record a one-under 36 on the back. She birdied the par 3 11th hole for the second-straight day to go with birdies on the par 5 13th and 16th as well.

Seniors Emily Kase and Julia Dapron, who holds the program's two-day record low of 147 at the Franklin Pierce Invitational in the fall, rounded out Stonehill's entries in the top 11 with sub-80 rounds today. Kase followed up Monday's 80 with a 79 today for a two-day score of 159 to finish tied for ninth overall, while Dapron carded a 76 today after a first round 84 to move up to a tie for 11th at 160. Kase shot one over par 38 on the back nine, recording 13 pars over her round today, while Dapron played the five par 5's three-under-par with birdies on the ninth, 13th and 18th holes, shooting one over 38 on the back.

  • Junior Hannah Pignato moved up four spots with her career-low round of 80 on Tuesday to finish tied for 18th overall at 170. She posted back-to-back birdies on the par 5 ninth and par 4 tenth hole.
  • Sophomore Mollie Thomas turned in an 81 on Tuesday with a pair of birdies to finish 24th overall with a two-day score of 176.
  • Freshman Caitlin Anderson carded an 84 today to finish with a two-day score of 174 for a tie for 21st while competing as an individual at the Invitational. Classmate Cheyenne Couture finished tied for 27th overall with a score of 182 after her second round 89, while freshman Cecilie Elie posted a season-low 88 to finish 30th overall at 185.
