Dorset, Vermont, senior shoots opening round 75 to lead Skyhawks

Bloomfield, Conn. (October 3, 2022) – Stonehill College senior Julia Dapron is tied for second after the first round of the Hartford Hawks Invitational, hosted by the University of Hartford on the 5,938-yard, par 70, layout at Wintonbury Hills Golf Club this afternoon. 

Highlights

  • Dapron carded two birdies on the par 5 fourth hole and par 3 ninth to finish one over par on the front nine on her way to the opening round five-over-par 75. It marks her third-straight round in the 70s for Stonehill and she sits five strokes off the lead on the medalist leaderboard which is led by Sydney Nethercott from Fairfield University after an even par round of 70 to lead the field of 58 golfers on the individual leaderboard.
  • Stonehill sits eighth in the team standings with a 331 team score, eight shots behind Siena College (323) in seventh, but 12 strokes better than ninth place Assumption University (343). Merrimack College leads the team standings by two strokes over Fairfield (307) after a 305 team score today.
  • Freshman Jaelyn DeBoise continues to perform well for Stonehill in her first collegiate season, posting a score of 80 today and sits tied for 23rd after the first round. She birdied the par 3 third hole and shot four over par on the back.
  • Senior Emily Kase added an 84 this afternoon, and is tied for 38th overall.
