Van Zanen Third Overall as Women’s Golf Fourth at NE10 Championships

CONCORD, N.H. (October 9, 2021) - Stonehill College sits in fourth place, just five strokes out of second place, led by senior captain Sloane Van Zanen in third on the individual leaderboard, after the first round of the 2021 Northeast-10 Conference Women's Golf Championship, hosted by Southern New Hampshire University, on the 5,807-yard, par-72 layout, at Beaver Meadow Golf Club today.

The Details

  • Van Zanen carded three birdies, including a lengthy putt on the 302-yard, par 4 18th hole to complete a round of 77 to match her career-best for the second time this fall and sit in a tie for third overall in the field of 33 golfers. She bookended her round with birdies, adding one on the 342-yard, par 4 first, with another at the 413-yard, par 5 fourth.
  • Van Zanen trails opening round leader Erika Fuentes from The College of Saint Rose by just three shots after she carded a two-over-par 74 today.
  • Stonehill finished the day with a 338-team score, with two-time defending champions Franklin Pierce University leading the way at 314. Le Moyne College is a distant second after a score of 333, just four strokes in front of third place Assumption University (337) and five shots in front of Stonehill. Adelphi University (348) is fifth and Saint Rose (359) sixth.
  • Junior Julia Dapron finished her opening round with an 84 and is tied for 16th overall. She carded a birdie on the 321-yard, par 4 11th hole.
  • Senior Emma Beaulieu follows in a tie for 22nd overall after a round of 87, while freshman Mollie Thomas holed two birdies on her way to an opening round 90, a score matched by junior Emily Kase  to put the pair tied for 27th.

Up Next

The Northeast-10 Championship concludes tomorrow morning at Beaver Meadow Golf Club, with second round play commencing at 9 a.m. The Skyhawks will begin teeing off at hole one at 9:20 a.m.
