DORSET, Vt. (October 3, 2021) - It's another program first for the Stonehill College women's golf program as it hosts its first event in program history, albeit in the State of Vermont, and sits in second place in the team standings after day one of the Stonehill Invitational, hosted on the 5,601-yard, par 70 layout, at Dorset Field Club today.

The Details

  • It's another program first for the Stonehill College women's golf program as it hosts its first event in program history, albeit in the State of Vermont, and sits in second place in the team standings after day one of the Stonehill Invitational, hosted on the 5,601-yard, par 70 layout, at Dorset Field Club in Dorset, Vermont, today.
  • Merrimack College leads the team standings after the first day, placing five golfers in the top 11 (six including those competing as individuals), to post a score of 301 (+21) after the first day. The Warriors are led by three in the top three on the individual leaderboard, with junior Jacquelyn Stiles leading the way with a two-over-par round of 72 for second overall in the field of 33 golfers – three strokes behind first round leader Erika Fuentes from The College of Saint Rose with a one-under-par 69 on Sunday.
  • Stonehill posted a team score of 330 (+50), tied for the fourth-lowest single round team score in the program's five-year history, to rank second after the first day of the two-day tournament. Assumption University is just three strokes behind in third (333), followed by Adelphi University (339) just nine shots from second in fourth.
  • Senior captain Sloane Van Zanen leads the way for Stonehill with an opening round 77 (+7) to stand in sixth on the individual leaderboard and matching her career-low round set in the second round of the 2019 Saint Rose Fall Invitational. She carded 11 pars and seven bogies in her steady opening round today.
  • Fellow senior Emma Beaulieu is tied for 12th overall with an opening round 82, posting a round that featured two birdies on the 182-yard, par 3 eighth hole, as well as the 344-yard, par 4, 14th.
  • Junior Julia Dapron carded an opening round 85 in a round that featured eight pars on her hometown course and is 17th on the leaderboard.
  • Freshman Mollie Thomas posted an opening round 86 in her collegiate debut, with ten pars, for 18th overall.
  • Junior Emily Kase opened with a round of 92 (T23rd), while sophomore Emma Casey posted an opening round 95 (T29) for the Skyhawks.
