The Game
Stonehill College opens a three-game road trip to wrap up its first semester schedule and lead into the festive season as it visits Boston College for its first matchup with an Atlantic Coast Conference program in its program history at Silvio O. Conte Forum today. The Skyhawks are in search of their first win of their second NCAA Division I season after dropping a 68-41 decision to the University of New Hampshire in Easton last Wednesday. The Eagles enter their Field Trip Day game winners of three-straight after Sunday's 88-59 victory over Siena College here at Conte Forum.

Time Change!
Stonehill's December 21 matchup at George Washington University has been changed to an 11 a.m., from its previous noon tip off. Please note the change.

Media Information
Today's game will be broadcast live via ACC Network Xtra, with Eric Gallanty (PBP) and Luis Sanchez (analyst) calling the action. ACCN and ACCNX can be streamed in the ESPN App. Access to both requires that your pay TV provider (cable, satellite, telco or streaming service) carries ACCN.

Last Time Out
New Hampshire connected on 63-percent of its shots in the second half to pull away from Stonehill and collect a 68-41 victory at Merkert Gymnasium. Avery O'Connor came off the bench and scored 12 of her game-high 19 points in the second half to lead three from New Hampshire in double-figures. She made 7-of-11 shots from the floor, including a trio of three-pointers, adding four rebounds, while Adara Groman made 7-of-8 shots for 15 points and five rebounds. Clara Gomez rounded out the Wildcats in double-figures with ten points on 5-of-6 shooting, nine rebounds, three assists and two steals. Freshman Brooke Paquette (Hudson, N.H.) was the lone Stonehill player in double-figures with 11 points, including all six Skyhawk points on back-to-back three-pointers in the third quarter, connecting on 3-of-4 three-pointers, with three rebounds, an assist and steal. Junior Sharn Hayward (Penguin, Tasmania) hit 3-of-7 threes for nine points and three assists, while postgrad Anna Boruta (Vienna, Austria) chipped all nine of her points in the first half, with two assists and two steals.

Against the Eagles
Today's game is the tenth meeting all-time between these two programs - the first since a 62-58 Stonehill victory in Easton on January 12, 1982. Stonehill holds a 6-3 advantage in the all-time series with each of the nine previous meetings during former Hall of Fame head coach and administrator Paula Sullivan's time in charge of the program. Stonehill has won the last four meetings in a series that dates back to 1973, having posted a 4-0 mark against the Eagles at home, to go with a 1-2 clip here in Chestnut Hill with today Stonehill's first ever contest at Conte Forum. The two programs have split a pair of neutral site matchups as well - both at Bentley University during a pair of holiday tournaments in the 1970s. Stonehill posted a 56-55 triumph over BC in its last trip to Chestnut Hill on February 19, 1981. Stonehill head coach Trisha Brown is 0-0 in her career against the Eagles as a head coach, while BC mentor Joanna Bernabei-McNamee is 0-0 all-time against the Skyhawks.

Last Time They Met
Stonehill posted a 62-58 victory over Boston College at Merkert Gymnasium in Easton on January 12, 1982. Penny Bronsdon led Stonehill with a double-double effort of 17 points and 15 rebounds. Stonehill built a 14-point lead, but held off a late BC rally to claim its fourth-straight win in the all-time series which dates back to 1973. Ann Mallory added 16 points for Stonehill, while MaryAnn Walsh chipped in ten for the hosts. Elizabeth Houghton led the Eagles with 13 points, while Kerry Murphy netted 12.

Turn Back the Clock
Stonehill and Boston College are meeting today for the first time in 41-years when Stonehill notched a 62-58 decision in Easton for its fourth-straight win in the series that dates back to 1973 on January 12, 1982. Here's what else was going on on and around that date:
• It was also a Tuesday.
• Olivia Newton-John's "Physical" was the No. 1 song in the United States.
• 2003 National League Rookie of the Year Dontrelle Willis was born in Oakland, Calif.
• Musician Maurice Gibb (Bee-Gees) passed away.
• Martina Navratilova won her first of three Australian Open crowns on January 2.
• A January 9 earthquake measuring 5.9 is registered in New England and Canada, the first since 1855.
• Hank Aaron and Frank Robinson inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame on January 13.
• In what is known as "Cold Sunday" on January 17, several cities in the U.S., see temperatures fall to their lowest levels in 100 years - including Atlanta recording a below 0F temp on January 11, and snow covering 75% of North America.
• I was a month away from my eighth birthday.

Top O' the Mornin' to You!
Today's game marks Stonehill's first tip off before noon since a 76-59 victory over Adelphi University on the second day of the 2000 Coca-Cola Christmas Classic at Merkert Gymnasium moved to 11 AM due to an incoming snowstorm. Today's game is the first of two 11 AM starts for the Skyhawks over the next nine days, as their matchup at George Washington University next Thursday, December 21, has been moved up to an 11 AM tip. In the 2000 Adelphi win, Stonehill shot 35.3-percent from the floor in building a 13-point (33-20) halftime lead, but took off to shoot 52.2% in the second to close out the win behind 22 points, seven rebounds and three steals from Emily Nichols '02.

High Score
Five different players have led Stonehill in scoring this season after sophomore Paige Martin (Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y.) shared the team lead in scoring against Holy Cross two weeks ago. Senior Jada Thornton (Germantown, Md.) has been Stonehill's top scorer in four games (seven career). No current member of the Skyhawks team has been the leading scorer in a win over their career.

Mo Boards
Junior forward Maureen Stapleton (Spring Lake Heights, N.J.) leads the NEC with 8.1 rebounds per game, including a Conference-high 6.3 defensive boards per game, having led Stonehill in rebounding in eight if its nine games. She pulled down double-digit rebounds in back-to-back games, including a career-high 14 rebounds at Niagara - tied for tops in the NEC this season.

Double-Figures
Stonehill senior forward Jada Thornton (Germantown, Md.) has scored in double-figures in six of the Skyhawks nine games this season - tripling her career total entering the season (3). She is ranked 13th in the NEC with her team-high 9.9 points per game.

Preseason Prognostications
Stonehill has been picked to finish fifth in its second trip around the Northeast Conference by the league's head coaches in its preseason poll announced at the Conference's Social Media Day at the Prudential Center in Newark in October. Defending NEC Tournament Champions Sacred Heart University is the unanimous choice to capture the regular season title with all nine first place votes, followed by No. 2 Merrimack, No. 3 Wagner, defending regular season champions FDU at No. 4 and Stonehill. LIU follows the Skyhawks at No. 6, with Saint Francis No. 7, NEC newcomer Le Moyne No. 8 and No. 9 Central Connecticut State.

Tough Slate
Stonehill has again assembled a strong non-conference test to lead into its second Northeast Conference season. The Skyhawks will face their first ACC opponent in Boston College in Chestnut Hill on December 12 (11 AM) to go along with opponents from the Big East (1 - DePaul), Atlantic-10 (1 - George Washington), CAA (1 - Northeastern), MAC (1 - Buffalo), WAC (1 - Utah Tech), America East (3 - Bryant, New Hampshire, UAlbany), MAAC (2 - Niagara, Fairfield) and Patriot League (2 - Lehigh, Holy Cross). Of this year's 13 game non-conference schedule, eight are repeat opponents from the Skyhawks inaugural Division I season, starting with tonight's return visit to Merkert by Northeastern and including: Lehigh (Nov. 11), Bryant (Nov. 14), Buffalo (Nov. 17), Holy Cross (Nov. 29), New Hampshire (Dec. 6), UAlbany (Dec. 16) and Fairfield (Dec. 30) - with six of those eight here at home.

Inside the Roster
Stonehill head coach Trisha Brown returns five letterwinners, including just one starter and no regular starters, from its inaugural NCAA Division I season in 2022-23.
Stonehill's roster includes:
• Three Division I transfers, including two postgraduate transfers in Anna Boruta (Vienna, Austra) from Northeastern and Lauren Sampson (Waltham, Mass.) from Providence, as well as sophomore Paige Martin (Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y.) from St. Francis-Brooklyn.
• Three players who combined to start 16 games last season, including senior Cameron Ward (Bound Brook, N.J.), who started ten of 14 games before being sidelined by injury.
• A program-record three international student-athletes.
• Two postgrads, two seniors, two juniors, two sophomores and six freshmen.

Tourney Time
Stonehill, winners of six Northeast-10 Conference Championship prior to elevating its program to NCAA Division I status in 2022, will have the opportunity to compete for a Northeast Conference title for the first time this season after the NEC presidents voted to waive the two-year waiting period in automatic qualifier sports at their June meetings. The Skyhawks remain NCAA Tournament ineligible until the 2026-27 season.

Celebrating 75 Years
Stonehill College, founded in 1948 is celebrating its 75th Anniversary during the 2023-24 academic year. In September 1948, some 134 students — many of whom were veterans from World War II — gathered with the eight teachers who would serve as their faculty to celebrate Mass at the Chapel in Donahue Hall. That small gathering of students and teachers marked the beginning of Stonehill College. The College kicked off its 75th Anniversary Celebration with a Jubilee Mass during Family Weekend in September, followed by music, games, food trucks and beer garden.
