Raymond Named to D2CCA All-East Region First Team

EASTON, Mass. (March 11, 2022) – Stonehill College senior forward Kayla Raymond has earned Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) All-East Region honors for the second time in her career, as selected by the region's athletic communication professionals.

Raymond, a D2CCA All-East Region second team selection as a sophomore in 2020, earns first team All-Region honors for the first time. She is the first from Stonehill to collect a first team selection since 2018 D2CCA East Region Player of the Year Kelly Martin, '18 was also a first team pick.

Raymond, a two-time All-Northeast-10 Conference first team selection with the third All-NE10 recognition of her career overall this season, started 20 of her 22 games played this winter and ranks third among NE10 scoring leaders with her team-best 19.1 points per game on 42.7-percent shooting, converting 85.2 (52-for-61) of her free-throws (3rd NE10), and adding 6.9 rebounds (14th), 1.7 assists, 1.5 blocked shots (4th) and a steal per game. She stepped up her game in the NE10 Tournament, earning a spot on the All-Championship Team after averaging 19.5 points, including a pair of 23-point games, on 45.9-percent shooting (28-for-61), including 44.4% (8-18) from three, converting all 14 of her free-throws, to go with 6.5 rebounds per game.

The two-time NE10 Player of the Week this season (three times overall) led Stonehill in scoring in 11 straight games played to conclude the season and 15 this season overall, scoring in double-figures 16 straight games and 21 times this season overall, including eight 20-point games. Raymond matched her career-best with a season-high 32 points on 12-of-23 shooting, including 3-for-6 from three-point range, in a win at the University of New Haven on January 15, recording four doubles. Raymond is averaging 22.2 points per game on 46.5-percent shooting, converting 85% (34-40) of her free-throws, since the New Year, adding 7.4 rebounds, two assists and 1.5 blocked shots per game (4th).

Raymond, the 2018-19 NE10 Rookie of the Year and an honorable mention All-America selection as a sophomore in 2019-20 by the WBCA, became the program's 33rd 1,000-point scorer in February and finished her career ranked 23rd on Stonehill's career scoring list with 1,188 points. She is a 44.8-percent shooter in her Stonehill career, converting 83.6% (133-159) of her free-throws to go with 469 rebounds, 111 assists, 58 steals and 108 blocks to rank seventh in program history. Raymond was the Most Outstanding Player of the 2020 NE10 Tournament, was named to the 2019 East Regional All-Tournament team as a freshman and she has been named to the NE10 Academic Honor roll multiple semesters.

Stonehill wrapped up its 2021-22 season with a 16-9 record overall, including 12-7 in the NE10 to earn the No. 3 seed from the Conference's Northeast Division in making its 40th appearance in the NE10 Tournament. The Skyhawks were ranked No. 8 in the final NCAA Division II East Regional ranking before the tournament bids were announced and reached the NE10 Championship for the 13th time in program history.
