Bentley Turns Back Women’s Basketball, 62-51

EASTON, Mass. (November 23, 2021) - Bentley University, ranked No. 16 in this week's Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division II poll, secured a 62-51 victory over Stonehill College, receiving votes in the national poll, in Northeast-10 Conference women's basketball coaches action on Paula Sullivan Court at Merkert Gymnasium this evening.

The Details

  • Postgrad Autumn Ceppi led a balanced Bentley offensive effort with 11 points, six rebounds, two assists and two blocked shots, while sophomore Maggie Whitmore was the only other Falcon in double figures with ten points and seven boards.
  • Senior Emily Bramanti once again paced Stonehill with a game-high 18 points, four rebounds and five assists. Senior Kayla Raymond added 11 points, eight rebounds and two blocks.

    Senior Meg Hill chipped in with a game-high ten rebounds on the night with two blocks, while junior Mia Kelly contributed seven points, seven boards and three steals.
  • Stonehill grabbed a two-point halftime lead after outscoring Bentley 9-3 over the last eight minutes of the second quarter.
  • Bentley scored the first four points of the second half and then scored six straight, sparked by a three-point play from Ceppi to grab the lead for good (37-35) after two Whitmore free-throws with 2:55 left in the third.
  • Bentley extended its lead to nine (48-39) after a Whitmore three, three and a half minutes into the fourth, but Stonehill trimmed the lead to five (50-45) after a layup by sophomore Jada Thornton with 3:49 still to play.
  • Stonehill would get no closer as Bentley was able to seal the down the stretch at the free-throw line, finishing 10-of-14 at the line in the quarter.

Stonehill (0-2, 0-2 NE10) is off until next Tuesday when it visits Daemen College for a non-conference matchup in Western New York at 6 p.m. The Skyhawks return home on Tuesday, December 7, to host Assumption University for an NE10 matchup at 5:30 p.m. Bentley (3-0, 2-0 NE10) heads to Georgia this weekend to take part in the Valdosta State University Thanksgiving Classic on Friday and Saturday.
