Le Moyne Secures Win Over Softball to Close Out Mid-Week Series

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (April 30, 2024) – The Stonehill College Softball team fell in the finale of a three-game midweek series at the Le Moyne Softball Complex in a Northeast Conference matchup against the Dolphins.

Le Moyne 5 (17-34, 8-13 NEC), Stonehill 1 (12-34, 3-18 NEC)

HOW IT HAPPENED

After a scoreless first inning, the Skyhawks got on the board after a leadoff single from junior Shannon Conte (Amesbury, Mass.) which led to pinch-runner, junior Emily Nardelli (North Attleboro, Mass.) stealing third before eventually scoring on an error by the shortstop.

Le Moyne tied the score at 1-1 in the third inning with the first two batters reaching base before an RBI single to right field from Dominique Rinaldi brought in the run from second base.

The Dolphins gained the lead in the fourth inning as a fielder's choice with the bases loaded brought in a run from third base before a wild pitch by freshman Alexa Hospodar (Old Bethpage, N.Y.) allowed two more runs to score to give Le Moyne a 4-1 lead entering the fifth.

An insurance run came across in the sixth inning on an RBI ground out for the Dolphins with the Skyhawks being unable to score for the remainder of the game as Le Moyne secured the 5-1 NEC win and a series victory.
