Carvalho leads six double-winners for Skyhawks

RINDGE, N.H. (April 21, 2022) – Franklin Pierce University posted a 7-0 victory over Stonehill College in Northeast-10 Conference men's tennis action at FPU Tennis Courts this afternoon. 

Highlights

  • Postgrad Felipe Carvalho led six double-winners for Franklin Pierce with wins at No. 1 singles and doubles.
  • Postgrad Kevin Denecheau was also one of the double-winners for the Ravens at No. 2 doubles and No. 3 singles. He and Stonehill sophomore Louis Coppi played the tightest match of the afternoon, with Denecheau prevailing in straight sets decided by just a break.

How it Happened

  • Franklin Pierce swept the three doubles matches to clinch the first point of the day. Carvalho and junior Alejandro Ortiz took a 6-4 win at No. 1 singles for the Ravens, while they also won at No. 3 by just a break.
  • The Ravens would sweep the six singles matches to close out the match, with Denecheau edging Coppi, 6-4, 6-4 at No. 3.
  • Carvalho added a 6-3, 6-4 decision at No. 1 singles against Stonehill freshman Guillaume Duhil de Bénazé.

Stonehill (6-8, 0-6 NE10) is right back in action on Saturday, to host Assumption University for its regular season finale at Charles Watt Tennis Courts at noon. Franklin Pierce (6-8, 3-4 NE10) now awaits its first round pairing for the NE10 Championships next week.
