Coppi Earns NE10 Rookie of the Week Honors

EASTON, Mass. (October 13, 2021) – Stonehill College sophomore Louis Coppi has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week for men's tennis by the league office.

Coppi was a double winner to help lead Stonehill to a 5-4 triumph at Wheaton (Mass.) College in its fall finale on Thursday in its lone match of the week. He and freshman Guillaume Duhil de Bénazé teamed up for the Skyhawks first doubles point with their 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles. Coppi followed that up with a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles against Wheaton junior Ethan Na that gave Stonehill a 4-1 lead at the time.

Coppi has posted a combined 9-3 record in singles and doubles play through the fall in his first season at Stonehill. He and Duhil de Bénazé have posted 6-2 doubles record, including a 4-0 mark at No. 2, while combining to win the B-Doubles pool of the season-opening Stonehill Doubles Invitational, collecting 24 points over the three pool matches. Coppi has posted a 3-1 singles record for the Skyhawks, winning all three of his matches in dual match play at No. 4.

Stonehill wrapped up its fall non-conference schedule with a 4-0 record overall. The Skyhawks spring NE10 Championship season schedule will be announced in the coming weeks.
