The Game Stonehill men's basketball travels to DeGol Arena in Loretto, Pa. for the first of two Northeast Conference matchups with Saint Francis this season. The Red Flash are the final NEC team that the Skyhawks have yet to see and will be just the third matchup all-time between the two programs. Stonehill will look to pick up its first road win of the season at Saint Francis, who is currently 5-6 at DeGol Arena and 2-8 in conference play. Scouting the Red Flash The Red Flash are 7-16 on the year while being 2-8 in league play. They will be hosting the Skyhawks at DeGol Arena where they are 5-6 on the year and 2-3 in conference action. Saint Francis has lost three straight games coming into Saturday's matchup including two close defeats, a 63-63 loss at CCSU and a 70-67 loss at LIU in its most recent matchup. The Red Flash lead the NEC in offensive rebounds per game, corralling 12.2 per game. Saint Francis is led in the scoring category by sophomore Cam Gregory who averages 13.4 points per game, the tenth best mark in the conference. Freshman Eli Wilborn is the Red Flash's leading rebounder as well as the conference's second-eading rebounder, averaging 7.3 boards per game. Wilborn is also second in the NEC with 1.8 blocked shots per game. Against the Red Flash It marks the third meeting in the all-time series between Stonehill and Saint Francis, a series that began last year when the Skyhawks joined the NEC. Both teams defended home court in the regular season series, with the Red Flash taking a 73-72 win at DeGol Arena and the Skyhawks winning at Merkert Gym, 74-61. LAST TIME OUT EASTON, Mass. (February 8, 2024) – Stonehill men's basketball dropped a Northeast Conference matchup at Merkert Gym Thursday night, falling to Le Moyne, 88-57 as the two teams met for the first time at the Division I level. Freshmen Louie Semona (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Austin Abrams (Ellicott City, Md.) each scored nine points to lead Stonehill. Semona also led the Skyhawks with six boards and four assists. Le Moyne was led by grad student Kaiyem Cleary who netted 16 points as four Dolphins scored in double-figures in a balanced scoring attack. Rotating cast The Skyhawks have used 12 different starting lineups through 25 games this season as nine different players have started for Stonehill and no Skyhawks has started all 25 games. The Skyhawks have used a different starting unit in six of the last eight games. Stonehill's 12 different starting lineups is tied for the fifth-most unique combinations in all of Division I. Eastern Michigan (16) is at the top of list while Detroit Mercy (15), Furman (14), Kansas City (14), Milwaukee (14), and Jacksonville (13) are the only schools with more combinations than the Skyhawks. Stonehill has used the same lineup in five consecutive games.
