Football Places Five on All-NEC Teams

Program-best three first team selections highlight program-high five honorees in second NCAA FCS season as NEC members

EASTON, Mass. (November 22, 2023) – A program-high five members of the Stonehill College football program, including a two-year best three first team selections, have earned All-Northeast Conference (NEC) honors as selected by the league's eight head coaches, the Conference office announced today.

Seniors Jermaine Corbett, along with postgrad David Satkowski highlight Stonehill's selections with first team honors – the second-straight year for Corbett and Satkowski, with the trio also being named to the preseason All-NEC team this summer. Juniors Chris Domercant and Noah Canty round out the program-best five All-NEC picks for the Skyhawks with second team honors. The five give Stonehill nine All-NEC selections over its first two years as members of the Conference, including five first team picks after its program-high total this fall, and give head coach Eli Gardner 47 All-Conference selections over his eight years as head coach.

Corbett earns All-NEC first team honors for the second-straight season after leading Stonehill and finishing second among Conference leaders with 111.8 rushing yards per game and nine touchdowns. His 894 total rushing yards rank third in the NEC despite missing two games to injury and ranks ninth on Stonehill all-time single season list. Corbett leads the NEC with his 135.5 all-purpose yards and 6.8 points per game, while ranking fifth with 1,084 all-purpose yards, seventh in total points (54) and third in touchdowns scored (9). The three-time NEC Offensive Player of the Week rushed for 100-plus yards in four of the eight games he played, including a season-high 182 yards on 28 carries in the Skyhawks 33-30 win at Central Connecticut State University on September 9.

Corbett, a preseason All-NEC selection over the summer, has appeared in 23 games over his Stonehill career, ranking eighth all-time with 2,062 rushing yards on 388 attempts, while his 20 rushing touchdowns rank fourth and 21 total touchdowns are tied for tenth. He rushed for over 100 yards eight times in his career, with a pair of 200-yard games, including a career-high 254 yards in his first career start against Saint Anselm College in 2021. Corbett is a six-time Conference Player of the Week, with NEC Offensive Player of the Week selections five times over the last two years.

Satkowski, who earlier today was named a finalist for the FedEx Ground Doris Robinson Scholar-Athlete of the Year award for NCAA FCS, earns All-NEC first team honors for the second-straight year as well. The three-year starter on the Stonehill offensive line moved to center this fall after two seasons as the Skyhawks right tackle and led a line that paved the way for Corbett and an offense that averaged 322.7 yards per game (4th fourth NEC), including 166.8 per game on the ground (4th), while finishing tied for second in the NEC for fewest sacks allowed with 15. Stonehill leads the NEC with 18.8 first downs per game, while ranking third on third down conversions (37.8%) and second in red zone offense (87.5% - 28-for-32).

Satkowski was named a Campbell Trophy® semifinalist from the National Football Foundation (NFF) for the second-straight year this fall – the program's first two-time honoree. He attended the 2023 NFF Campbell Trophy® Summit for the first time this summer and was named to the Hampshire Honor Society by the Football Foundation last spring. He has started 30 of the 31 games he has played over his Stonehill career and finished having started 29-straight games on the line. Satkowski was named to the preseason All-NEC first team by The Bluebloods and Phil Steele and preseason All-New England by the New England Football Journal, while earning NEC Scholar-Athlete honors following the 2022 football season.

Murphy, a preseason All-NEC selection, earns All-Conference honors for the first time in his career with his first team honors. He started all ten games at middle linebacker for Stonehill this fall and led the Skyhawks with 68 tackles (41 solo), including a team-high 8.0 for a loss of 17 yards, with a team-best 2.0 sacks for a loss of six yards, two interceptions and a team-high six pass breakups. He finished tenth among NEC tackle leaders, seventh in solo tackles, eighth in tackles for loss, fifth in passes defended (8) and sixth in pass breakups. Murphy earned NEC Defensive Player of the Week accolades once and was a four-time NEC Prime Performer, posting double-digit tackles in three-straight games, including a season-high 13 (10 solo) and 3.0 tackles for loss and a sack in the Skyhawks 22-19 double-overtime win against Sacred Heart University on October 21.

Murphy has started 19 of the 27 games he has played over his career at Stonehill, including each of the last 14 games and totaled 142 tackles (67 solo), including 14.0 for a loss of 32 yards, with 5.0 sacks for a loss of 17, 11 pass breakups, two interceptions and a fumble recovery.

Domercant earns All-Conference honors for the second time in his career with his first All-NEC selection with his second team honor. The three-time NEC Prime Performer started all ten games for Stonehill this fall after missing the majority of its inaugural Division I season to injury and led the Skyhawks with 37 receptions and 544 receiving yards, with a team-high five touchdown catches, while also averaging a team-high 22.2 yards on his 14 kick returns and adding two touchdowns and 175 yards on 23 rush attempts for 1,030 all-purpose yards (103.0 per game). Domercant ranks fifth among NEC leaders for receiving yards, third in touchdown receptions, sixth for all-purpose yards and kickoff return average, while ranking ninth in total touchdowns.

Domercant, an All-Northeast-10 Conference first team and All-Rookie Team selection as a freshman in 2021, has started 23 of the 24 games he has played over his Stonehill career and ranks eighth in program history with his 1,520 career receiving yards on 85 receptions, while ranking seventh with 16 touchdown receptions. His 17.9 career yards per reception is on pace to set a new program record and his 18 total touchdowns are three shy of cracking the all-time top ten, having scored 108 points and totaled 2.018 all-purpose yards.

Canty earns All-NEC honors for the first time with his second team selection. He started all ten games for Stonehill this fall and is second on the team with 25 receptions and 272 receiving yards, with 10.9 yards per reception and two touchdowns. He caught a season-high six passes for 49 yards at Merrimack College on October 7, totaled a career-best 76 yards on four catches and a touchdown in the Skyhawks 22-19 double-overtime win over Sacred Heart and collected a touchdown grab against LIU on Saturday.

Canty has started 13 of the 24 games he has played over his Stonehill career and totaled 44 receptions for 465 yards and three touchdowns.

Stonehill capped its second NCAA I FCS season with a 5-5 record overall, including 4-3 in the NEC, winning its last two games and three of its last four to finish in the tie for second in the regular season standings.
