Five Skyhawks Earn All-NE-10 Honors

Hickey, Frost and Haedrich all earn first team All-Conference honors
Simmons earns third team singles honors, while Haedrich/Harrow collect second team doubles accolades
Frost, Haedrich and Harrow also named to All-Rookie team

EASTON, Mass. (May 5, 2010) – Five members of the Stonehill College women's tennis team have earned All-Northeast-10 Conference honors for their performances during the 2009-10 season. Three Skyhawks earned first team singles honors, while one earned a spot on the third team for singles and their third doubles team received second team accolades. Three freshmen also earned a spot on the NE-10's All-Rookie Team.

Sophomore Sarah Hickey (Lee, Mass./Lee) and freshmen Paige Frost (Brigantine, N.J./Holy Spirit) and Chelsea Haedrich (Islip, N.Y./Islip) lead the list of All-Conference honorees with first team selections following their play during the NE-10 season. Sophomore Lindsay Simmons (Wethersfield, Conn./Wethersfield) earned a spot on the All-NE-10 third team, while the doubles tandem of Haedrich and freshman Jacqueline Harrow (North Reading, Mass./North Reading) received second team All-Conference honors. Frost, Haedrich and Harrow were all named to the NE-10 All-Rookie team as well.

Hickey earns first team All-Northeast-10 honors for the second-straight year, earning her spot at fourth singles this season after being named at fifth singles as a freshman. She won all eight of her NE-10 matches for Stonehill this season, posting a 14-0 record overall this spring after sitting out the fall season while serving as the starting goalkeeper on the Skyhawks women's soccer team. Hickey has earned NE-10 Player of the Week honors once this season, to collect the award twice over her career.

Hickey, who earned NE-10 All-Championship team honors for the second-straight season this spring, is a flawless 33-0 over her two-year collegiate career in singles play heading into this weekend's NCAA Tournament. She is 16-0 in two seasons in NE-10 play. Hickey has also posted a 21-4 career doubles record, including a 12-0 clip in the NE-10, earning first team All-NE-10 honors at third doubles as a freshman. She also collected All-Rookie team accolades in 2009.

Frost earns her first team All-NE-10 and All-Rookie team selection with a perfect start to her collegiate career as well. The freshman is 16-0 in singles play, including a 12-0 mark in NE-10 matches. She is 12-0 this season at fifth singles, while also winning all three matches played at sixth singles with a victory at No. 1 singles as well. Frost earned NE-10 Freshman of the Week honors once this season.

Frost, who has combined with senior Samantha Dircks (Stony Brook, N.Y./Ward Melville) to form the eighth-ranked doubles team in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Regional rankings, has posted a 6-4 doubles record this season, including a 5-3 clip with Dircks. The duo won the top-flight doubles title at the Wheaton Invitational this spring.

Haedrich earned first team All-NE-10 honors at sixth singles to go with her All-Rookie team nod. She has posted a 12-1 singles record in her first collegiate season, including a 10-1 mark in NE-10 matches. Haedrich has played at both fifth and sixth singles this season, posting a 3-0 mark at No. 5 and a 9-1 clip at No. 6. She has earned NE-10 Freshman of the Week honors twice.

Haedrich and Harrow earned All-NE-10 second team honors for their performance this season at third doubles for Stonehill. The team posted an 11-3 record together in their first collegiate season, including a 6-1 clip in NE-10 play. Haedrich has posted an overall doubles record of 18-3, including a 10-1 mark in NE-10 matches, while Harrow (also an All-Rookie Team pick) has posted a doubles record of 17-4, including a 10-1 clip in Conference matches. She has also recorded a 6-2 singles mark, winning all five NE-10 matches this year.

Simmons rounds out Stonehill's All-Northeast-10 performers with a spot on the third team at third singles. She has posted a 15-5 overall record this season, including a 10-2 clip in NE-10 play. It marks her second-straight All-Conference award as she earned first team honors at sixth singles as a freshman as well as a spot on the All-Rookie team.

Simmons has posted a 27-6 record in singles play over her two seasons at Stonehill, including a 17-2 mark in NE-10 play.

Stonehill (17-3, 12-1 NE-10) has earned its second-straight NCAA Tournament bid and fifth in program history overall. The fourth-seeded Skyhawks have also been named host of NCAA East Regional #1 and will open play with a first round matchup with fifth-seeded Goldey-Beacom College on Thursday at Charles Watt Tennis Courts at 2 p.m. Top-seeded Concordia (N.Y.) College will face eighth-seeded Holy Family University in tomorrow's first match at 11 a.m. The sub-regional will conclude with Thursday's winners squaring off on Friday at 11 a.m., with the winner earning a spot at the NCAA Division II Championships in Altamonte Springs, Fla., May 12-15.
