Stonehill posts 17 total All-Region performances during outdoor season

EASTON, Mass. (May 13, 2015) – Eleven members of the Stonehill College women's track & field program have earned a combined 17 All-East Region honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for their efforts during the outdoor season, the organization announced this week. The awards recognize each of the region's top five performers in individual events and top three teams in relay events.

Senior All-American Maria Curit (Biddeford, Maine/Biddeford) again led the way for Stonehill with four All-Region performances, coming in both track (400-meter dash, 800-meter run) and field (long jump) events as well as a top-five regional effort with the 4x400-meter relay.

Curit earned two of her four All-Region honors two weekends ago at the Northeast-10 Conference Outdoor Championships, turning in program record and NCAA Championship provisional qualifying efforts in both the 400-meter dash (55.42 seconds) and the long jump (19'8''). She followed that up last weekend at the New England Championships with two more program records, automatically qualifying for NCAAs in the 800-meter run (2:06.85) and provisionally qualifying in the 4x400-meter relay (3:46.42).

Curit, who has now amassed a total of 24 All-Region awards for both indoor/outdoor track & field over her four years at Stonehill, has been recognized for both the 400-meter dash and long jump in every season of her career with the exception of the 2012-13 indoor campaign.

Sophomores Nicole Borofski (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North) and Aisha McAdams (North Kingstown, Rhode Island/North Kingstown) who posted three All-Region efforts each during the indoor season, tied for the second highest total on the team again with a pair of outdoor honors apiece.

Borofski registered a program record time of 4:34.18 in the 1500-meter run at the NE-10 Championships, which was broken by McAdams' effort of 4:33.21 a week later at the New England Championships. Borofski also posted her second straight All-Region performance in the 3000-meter steeplechase, clocking in with a program record time of 10:32.99 at New Englands. McAdams' second All-Region effort came at the NE-10 Championships, where she turned in a time of 2:14.53 in the 800-meter run. Borofski has now collected six career All-Region honors for track & field to go with two for cross country, while McAdams has earned three for track & field and one for cross country.

Joining Borofski and McAdams with two All-Region honors is senior Sarah Wilson (West Suffield, Connecticut/Suffield), who was a part of Stonehill's program record performance in the 4x400-meter relay at the New England Championships, while also posting a time of 2:13.82 in the 800-meter run at the NE-10 Championships. Wilson caps her career with her ninth and tenth career All-Region accolades, including sixth in the 800.

Junior All-Americans Jordan Gray (Warwick, Rhode Island/Toll Gate) and Leanne Kent (North Andover, Massachusetts/Central Catholic) earn one All-Region honor each for their efforts with the 4x400-meter relay along with Curit and Wilson. Gray is being recognized by the USTFCCCA for the sixth time in her career, while Kent collects her second All-Region award.

Junior All-American Jeana Esernio (Stony Brook, New York/Ward Melville) earns her second consecutive honor for the 100-meter hurdles and fifth overall with her program record time of 14.46 seconds at the New England Championships.

Junior Trisha Pierson (East Hanover, New Jersey/Hanover Park) is now a three-time All-Region performer in the discus throw with her program record distance of 137 feet, ten inches at the NE-10 Championships, giving her four total regional honors in her career.

Freshman Alison Tobin (Hudson, Massachusetts/Hudson), who posted an All-Region performance in the pole vault during the indoor season, caps her freshman campaign with another award in the event after clearing ten feet, six inches at the NE-10 Championships.

Rounding out Stonehill's 11 All-Region performers for the outdoor season are junior Haela Booth-Howe (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough) and freshman Gaelin Farrell (Baldwinville, Massachusetts/Narragansett Regional), both of whom are being recognized for the first time in their careers. Booth-Howe registered a program record distance of 131 feet, eight inches in the javelin at the Holy Cross Invitational, while Farrell posted a mark of 40 feet, 1.25 inches in the shot put at the NE-10 Championships.

Stonehill will cap its outdoor season next Thursday-Saturday when Curit (800-meter run, long jump) and Borofski (3000-meter steeplechase) compete at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Grand Valley State University in Allendale Michigan.
