Campbell Named NE-10 Rookie Of The Week

Lexington, Mass. native placed third with a time of 2:20.92 in 800-meter run on Saturday at UMass Boston Indoor Open

EASTON, Mass. (December 9, 2014) – Stonehill College freshman Paige Campbell (Lexington, Massachusetts/Lexington) has been named Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week for women's track, the league office announced today.

Campbell made her collegiate debut with Stonehill on Saturday at the 3rd Annual UMass Boston Indoor Open, held at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center in Boston, Massachusetts.

The Lexington, Massachusetts native led two Stonehill entries in the 800-meter run with her third-place finish in 2:20.92. Junior Erin Carberry (Milton, Massachusetts/Thayer Academy) also competed in the event, placing fifth with a time of 2:21.71. Campbell's effort was the tenth fastest in the country and fastest among NE-10 student-athletes so far this season.

A 2014 graduate of Lexington High School, Campbell was a two-time Middlesex League All-Star for both indoor and outdoor track & field. She was also a member of the National Honor Society and earned the Coaches Award for outdoor track as a senior.

Stonehill will be back at the Reggie Lewis Center next weekend for its last meet of the semester, as the Skyhawks are scheduled to compete at the Jay Carisella Invitational, hosted by Northeastern University.
