Toegemann Named NE-10 Player of the Week

Narragansett, R.I., native earns weekly honor for first time this season

EASTON, Mass. (March 26, 2012) – Stonehill College senior captain Amy Toegemann (Narragansett, R.I./The Lincoln School) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week by the league office today.

It marks the second-straight week and fourth time overall this season a Stonehill player has collected the NE-10's top weekly award after sophomore Kaitlyn Martin (Medway, Mass./Medway) earned the honors last week. Toegemann earns the award for the first time this season (third career) after posting a combined 5-0 record in singles and doubles play to lead the Skyhawks to a 3-0 week. She was 2-0 at No. 1 singles and teamed up with Martin to post a 3-0 clip at No. 3 doubles.

Toegemann was a double-winner in Stonehill's 8-1 victory over Division I College of the Holy Cross on Tuesday as she grinded out a 7-5, 4-6, 10-4 decision over Taylor Stathis at No. 1 singles after her and Martin posted an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles. Toegemann was also a double-winner against Assumption on Sunday, claiming a hard-fought 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) win over Chrissy Lyons at No. 1 singles for her 100th overall collegiate victory after combining with Martin for an 8-1 doubles win. Toegemann and Martin also coasted to an 8-0 doubles victory in Saturday's win at American International College.

Toegemann is a combined 15-6 so far in her senior season. She is 7-4 in singles, including a 5-0 clip in NE-10 play, posting a 3-2 mark since moving up to No. 1 after compiling a 4-1 record at No. 2. Toegemann has played with three different doubles partners, posting a combined 8-2 record. She and Martin are 4-0 to date as a pairing, posting all four wins at No. 3, including a 2-0 mark in NE-10 play.

Toegemann is a two-time first team All-Northeast-10 Conference doubles player over her career at Stonehill. She earned first team honors at No. 1 doubles as a freshman with former teammate Lindsey Herchel, while she and former teammate Chelsea Haedrich collected first team honors at No. 3 doubles last season. Toegemann earned the NE-10's F. Paul Bogan Sportsmanship Award following her junior season and she also collected NE-10 All-Rookie Team and NE-10 Championship team honors as a freshman in helping the Skyhawks to the NE-10 regular season and tournament championships.

Toegemann has posted a combined 101-37 (.732) record for singles and doubles over her career at Stonehill. She is 39-27 (.591) in singles play, including a 27-10 (.730) in Northeast-10 matches, going 32-20 at No. 2 singles. Toegemann is 62-10 (.861) over her career in doubles play, including an impressive 36-2 (.947) clip in NE-10 competition. She is 25-2 over her career at No. 1 doubles, 16-5 at No. 2 and 18-2 at No. 3. Toegemann has also performed in the classroom, earning NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll status two semesters and Athletic Director's Honor Roll once.

Stonehill (8-3, 6-0 NE-10), ranked seventh in the most recent ITA East Regional rankings, is back in action on Wednesday when it hosts rival Bentley University for an NE-10 matchup on Charles Watt Tennis Courts at 3 p.m.
