SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 21, 2021) – The Stonehill College women's soccer team played to a draw Wednesday night against Northeast-10 Conference foe, American International College in a spring game on Ronald J. Abdow Field.

How it Happened:

  • Stonehill outshot American International 19-5, as 12 of the Skyhawks' shots were on goal and four of the Yellow Jackets' shots were on net.
  • The Skyhawks' Camryn Thompson put the first shot on the board sending it wide of the left post after she dribbled around some defenders, just inside the second minute of play.
  • Giardina then looked to capitalize on a free kick from about the 35-yard line, that was sent in from Ellie Fried. Giardina headed it towards Sousa for the first save of the game, in the fourth minute of play.
  • Copley's first save of the game came in the 12th minute of play, as American International put pressure on the Skyhawks and cut off a free kick as Alexus Costa ripped a ball at Copley.
  • At 16:01, Stonehill tallied its second corner kick of the game, and Henry's strike from the right side gave Giardina time to rush in and head it in for a 1-0 lead at 16:47.

  • The Yellow Jackets' Jordan Chatman took the ball down the left wing and sent a cross into the box but was cleared by the Skyhawks. Trajkovski collected the clear around the 20-yard mark, turned towards the net and found the back left post to tie the game, 1-1, at 33:38.
  • In the second half, the Skyhawks totaled 11 shots, five of them being shots on goal, but were unable to find the back of the net. The Yellow Jackets recorded two shots in the second half, both being stopped by Copley, as the two teams ended in a draw, 1-1.

Stonehill will face Wheaton College for their next spring contest, currently scheduled for Thursday, April 29 at 5:30 p.m. in Norton, Massachusetts. The Skyhawks will wrap up spring play hosting an intrasquad game on Sunday, May 2 with a kickoff at 11:00 a.m. on Skyhawk Field.
