EASTON, Mass. (March 28, 2022) – Two key members of the defensive effort in a 2-0 week for the Stonehill College women's lacrosse program have earned weekly recognition from the Conference this afternoon.

Senior preseason All-America midfielder Emma Sullivan has been named the NE10's Defensive Player of the Week for a second time this spring, to go with an NE10 Player of the Week recognition this season as well, while freshman goalkeeper Sarah Faley has collected NE10 Rookie of the Week honors for the second-straight week. It marks the fourth week out of five Stonehill has had a weekly honoree from the NE10 this season, and the third time two student-athletes have earned recognition.

Sullivan was a key member of Stonehill's defensive effort that yielded just 7.50 goals per game in a 2-0 week to remain unbeaten in NE10 play, yielding 25.5 shots, forcing 20.0 turnovers with 13.0 caused turnovers per game. She led the Skyhawks with four caused turnovers, 11 ground balls and 10 draw controls for the week, while also contributing on the attack with 12 points on a team-high seven goals and five assists, converting goals on seven of her eight shots taken for the week. Sullivan posted three caused turnovers and a career-high eight ground balls, with five draws and career-high matching five goals in Saturday's 14-13 win at No. 14/17 Bentley University. She contributed a caused turnover, three ground balls and five draws with two goals and a career-best five assists for seven points, including the 100th of her career, in Wednesday's 19-2 win at American International College in which the Skyhawks didn't concede a goal until the fourth quarter with an 18-0 lead.

Faley posted a 7.75 goals against average and .576 save percentage with 9.5 saves per game in 108:20 over the two wins. She made seven saves and conceded just one goal over 48:20 of play in Wednesday's 19-2 win at American International, not yielding a goal until the fourth quarter after the Skyhawks had built an 18-0 lead, chipping in a ground ball and caused turnover. Faley made a season-high 12 saves in Saturday's 14-13 win at No. 14/17 Bentley, adding a ground ball.

Sullivan, named the NE10's Player of the Week on March 14 to go with her first NE10 Defensive Player of the Week recognition on March 1, was named a preseason All-American by USA Lacrosse Magazine. She has started all seven games for Stonehill this spring and is second on the team in scoring with 35 points (3rd NE10) on a team-high 26 goals (2nd) and nine assists (11th). Sullivan, who ranks 25th nationally in Division II with 5.0 points per game and 22nd with 3.71 goals per game, leads the NE10 and ranks third nationally with 32 ground balls, 48 draw controls (14th nationally) and 17 caused turnovers (12th).

Sullivan has tallied a career-high matching five goals in three of Stonehill seven games this spring, all wins, collecting a career-high matching 11 draws at Molloy College on February 27 and a career-best five caused turnovers against Concordia University-St. Paul on March 9, to go with her career-high eight ground balls against Bentley. She has netted multiple goals in all seven games this year and nine-straight games dating back to the 2021 season. Her 48 draw controls this season is just five shy of cracking the program's all-time single season top ten.

Sullivan, the 2021 NE10 Northeast Division Midfielder of the Year, has started 36 of her 38 career games played and totaled 86 goals and 24 assists for 110 points. She has also contributed 91 ground balls, 133 draw controls and 42 caused turnovers in her career, converting 8-of-16 free-position shot attempts. She earned All-East Region honors from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) and All-NE10 third team accolades as a junior and received Stonehill's "Breakout Sophomore" Award in 2020. Sullivan has also earned NE10 Academic Honor Roll status for her efforts in the classroom.

Faley has appeared in all seven games in the Stonehill goal during her first collegiate season, starting six and playing 345:05 of the team's 420-minutes. She ranks sixth among NE10 goalkeeping leaders with her 10.95 goals against average, while ranking eighth with 7.00 saves per game and seventh with a .438 save percentage. Saturday's season-high 12 save performance against Bentley marked her second double-figure save total of the season, having posted 11 stops in a win over then No. 2 Le Moyne College a week earlier.

Stonehill (6-1, 4-0 NE10), ranked No. 18 in this week's Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II poll and No. 14 in the USA Lacrosse Magazine Division II poll, is back in action with a pair of Top 25 matchups this week. The Skyhawks will host Assumption University, ranked No. 19 in this week's IWLCA poll, on Wednesday at 7 p.m., before hitting the road on Saturday to visit No. 21 University of New Haven at 1 p.m.
