Sullivan Named NE10 Player of the Week

EASTON, Mass. (March 14, 2022) – Stonehill College senior preseason All-American Emma Sullivan has earned weekly recognition from the Northeast-10 Conference for the second time this spring with her selection as the NE10's Player of the Week in women's lacrosse the league office announced today.

Sullivan, who was named the NE10 Defensive Player of the Week after Stonehill's season-opening win at Molloy College on February 27, earns NE10 Player of the Week accolades for the first time in her career. She filled the stat sheet in a 1-1 week for Stonehill during its annual spring break trip, totaling ten points with seven goals, on just 12 shots (58.3%) and three assists, while also compiling 11 ground balls, 12 draw controls and seven caused turnovers. Sullivan opened the week with two goals and two assists for four points, while adding six ground balls, five draw controls and two caused turnovers at Lynn University on Monday. She followed that up with a season-high five goals and an assist for six points, while collecting five ground balls, seven draws and a career-best five caused turnovers in Wednesday's 22-9 win over Concordia University of St. Paul.

Sullivan, named a preseason All-American by USA Lacrosse Magazine, has started all three games for Stonehill thus far and ranks among the top ten in Division II for ground balls, caused turnovers and draw controls per game, while ranking in the top five among NE10 scoring and goals leaders. Her 15 points are second on the team and rank fourth among NE10 leaders, while her team-high 12 goals are good for second in the Conference, adding three assists. Sullivan leads the NE10 with 17 ground balls (Division II-best 5.7 per game), while ranking second with ten caused turnovers (7th) and third with 23 draw controls (10th).

Sullivan has tallied a career-high matching five goals in two of Stonehill three games this spring, including both wins, collecting a career-high matching 11 draws at Molloy to go with her career-best five caused turnovers last week against Concordia-St. Paul.

Sullivan, the 2021 NE10 Northeast Division Midfielder of the Year, has started 32 of her 34 career games played and totaled 72 goals and 18 assists for 90 points. She has also contributed 76 ground balls, 108 draw controls and 35 caused turnovers in her career, converting 7-of-15 free-position shot attempts. She earned All-East Region honors from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) and All-NE10 third team accolades as a junior and received Stonehill's "Breakout Sophomore" Award in 2020. Sullivan has also earned NE10 Academic Honor Roll status for her efforts in the classroom.

Stonehill (2-1, 0-0 NE10) is back in action tomorrow afternoon, when it visits Franklin Pierce University for its NE10 opener in Rindge, New Hampshire, at 3 p.m. The Skyhawks home opener is scheduled for Saturday against Le Moyne College, ranked No. 2 in this week's IWLCA Division II poll, for an NE10 matchup at W.B. Mason Stadium at 1 p.m.
