Men's Cross Country Clinches 18th-Straight NCAA Championships Berth

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (November 6, 2021) - Stonehill College, ranked No. 3 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II East Regional rankings, earned a trip to the NCAA Division II Men's Cross Country Championships for the 18th-straight year by turning in a third place finish at the 2021 NCAA Division II East Regional, hosted by Roberts Wesleyan College, this afternoon.

The Details

  • The Skyhawks (89 points) edged host Roberts Wesleyan (93) by just four points for a spot at the NCAA Championships later this month, with all five scoring runners picking up All-East Region honors for their efforts. It was a repeat of the top three from the Northeast-10 Conference Championships two weeks ago with American International College following up its NE10 title with an East Region Championship (25 points), followed by Southern Connecticut State University (50) in second.
  • Junior Reilly Johnston led Stonehill's five All-Region runners with a 13th place finish in a personal-best ten-kilometer time of 31:59.7. It marks his third top 15 finish of the season (in as many entries) to earn All-Region honors for the first time.
  • Senior Nickolas McNamee and junior Colin Black followed in 16th and 17th place, respectively. McNamee earns All-Region honors in cross country for the third time in his career, clocking in at 32:09.6 for his fourth top 20 finish of the fall (8th career). Black finished in 32:10.9 for his fourth top 20 of the season and first All-Region performance.
  • Rounding out Stonehill's All-Region efforts today are senior Shane Braz in 20th (32:44.3) for his second career All-Region honor, and sophomore Aidan Byrne in 32:58.0 for 23rd and his first All-Region award.
