Black leads four Skyhawks in the top ten with second place finish

MANCHESTER, N.H. (September 11, 2021) – Stonehill College, ranked No. 4 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II East Regional rankings, returned to the starting line for the first time since the 2019 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships and took the team title at the Shacklette Invitational, hosted by Saint Anselm College, this morning. 

Highlights

  • Junior Colin Black led the way for Stonehill with a second-place finish overall, completing the 8-kilometer course in 27:44.3, leading a Skyhawks team that placed two in the top five, four in the top ten and six in the top 15.
  • Senior Nickolas McNamee finished fourth in 27:56.4.
  • Junior Reilly Johnston took eighth in 28:08.2, while freshman Jace Hollenbach rounded out Stonehill's entries in the top ten in his collegiate debut, clocking in at 28:23.4 four tenth overall.
  • American International College junior Jason Beaver won the individual title in 27:44.3, just ahead of Black.

Team Talk

  • Stonehill placed all four scoring runners in the top ten to post a team total of 35 points, 40-better than Adelphi University in second in the team standings with 75 points. American International College finished third with 95 points, with host Saint Anselm fourth with 110.
