Braz leads Skyhawks pack in 49th out of 256 runners overall

DARTMOUTH, Mass. (September 18, 2021) – Stonehill College, ranked No. 4 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II East Regional rankings, posted a 15th place team finish out of 33 teams competing on the five-mile Robert Dowd Cross Country Course at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational today.  

Highlights

  • Senior Shane Braz led the way for Stonehill by finishing 49th overall, out of 256 runners, by completing the five-mile course in 26:00.16, marking a personal-best over five miles.
  • Stonehill employed a pack-running strategy for the meet, its second of three over a three-week span, with its next three runners all finishing within nine seconds of each other between 89th and 98th place.

Team Talk

  • Stonehill finished 15th in the team standings, out of 33, with a score of 445. Division I University of Massachusetts Lowell won the team title with 44 points, followed by Trinity (Conn.) College in second with 107 points and then Worcester Polytechnic Institute in third with 108.

Stonehill is back in action next Saturday, when it wraps up a stretch of three-straight weeks of meets at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational, hosted by Roberts Wesleyan College, at the site of the NCAA Division II East Regional Championship in November, next Saturday at 10 a.m.
