The Details

  • Through the first 20 minutes, both sides were playing strong defense and had solid goaltending too. Aidan O'Sullivan had a chance early (12:56) when he rifled a shot on net but it ended up going just wide.
  • However, at 22:27, the Huskies struck first when UConn had shot on net, and despite the save by Dias Neto, Pierrot ran down the middle of the box to tap in the rebound for his first goal of the night.
  • Stonehill had their best look of the half when Shon Ryan took a free kick from near the top of the box and sent his shot to the upper right corner but Hibbert made the diving save by getting a hand on the ball.
  • At 37:39, Pierrott netted his second goal when De-Bodene sent a pass from a few yards out from the box and Pierrott ran in and tapped the ball ahead to himself which allowed for the open shot.
  • Less than a minute later, UConn added on one more goal courtesy of Conway and the Huskies headed into the half with a 3-0 lead.
  • UConn tested Dias Neto early into the second putting shots on net at 50:45 and 53:13 but the junior goalie came up with the clutch saves.
  • The Skyhawks had a chance to get on the board at 55:02 when he corralled the ball after a Stonehill corner kick and put his shot toward the top of the net but Hibbert again made the stop.
  • Later, at 72:13, UConn netted their fourth goal when Adu-Gyamfi made a nice move toward the sideline of the Stonehill goal and pushed up the side, and found a crossing Saputo who put his shot past Dias Neto.
  • As the half winded down, Benjamin Mazza-Bergeron had a chance to get the Purple and White on the board but his shot went wide of the UConn net.
