The Details

  • The Skyhawks found the back of the net early (03:31) as Meyer capitalized on a misplay by La Salle's keeper for the quick 1-0 advantage. Meyer capitalized on a misplay by La Salle's keeper and sent a shot off to the right side before Sabatti was able to get the ball.
  • Stonehill's defense kept La Salle's offense at bay as Coutu notched four saves. However, as the half was coming to an end, La Salle tied the contest at the 42:18 mark and both sides headed into the half at a stalemate.
  • La Salle opened up the second half with two quick goals just seconds apart from each other (50:25 and 50:44) before adding on another goal four minutes later (54:01) to go up 4-1 nearly 10 minutes into the second half.
  • Despite the three-goal lead, Stonehill did not back down as Woznicki sent his shot past Sabatti to make it 4-2 at 63:37. A little over a minute later (64:33), Woznicki struck again and cut what was once a three-goal deficit to one (4-3).
  • From that point, the Skyhawks had chances for the equalizer as Zach Davis and Woznicki were able to generate two good looks on net but just could not get the score. La Salle went to add one more late goal at 88:30 for the eventual 5-3 win.
  • Coutu's eight saves on the afternoon marked a new career-high for the junior topping his previous best of four set last season at Nyack College.
  • Overall on the day, La Salle held the advantage in both shots (26-12) and corner kicks (7-2) but the Skyhawks ended up taking more than the Explorers in the second half by a 2-1 margin.
