Stonehill to host NE-10 Field Hockey Final Four

Regular Season Champion Skyhawks and second-seeded Bentley earn byes

EASTON, Mass. (October 26, 2009) - Stonehill College will host the 2009 Northeast-10 Conference field hockey semifinal and final rounds at W.B. Mason Stadium on Saturday, October 31 and Sunday, November 1.

The semifinal round will start on Saturday at 11 a.m., with top-seeded Stonehill (16-3, 9-1 NE-10), ranked third in the most recent Kookaburra/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II poll, facing the winner of Wednesday's first round match between fifth-seeded Adelphi University (12-7, 7-3 NE-10) and fourth-seeded and 8th-ranked Merrimack College (12-7, 7-3 NE-10) at 11 a.m. The second semifinal will start at 2 p.m., with second-seeded and 6th-ranked Bentley University (14-4, 8-2 NE-10) awaiting the winner of Wednesday's other first round matchup between sixth-seeded Southern Connecticut State University (6-13, 5-5 NE-10) and third-seeded and No. 5-ranked University of Massachusetts Lowell (15-4, 7-3 NE-10).

The Northeast-10 Conference Championship game will be Sunday at noon and will be broadcast live on www.northeast10.tv as well as www.stonehillskyhawks.tv.

Admission for the games this weekend will be $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for senior citizens and children ages 12-18, while students with valid ID will be admitted for $1.00.

Stonehill captured its second NE-10 regular season championship this season, clinching the title with its 3-1 win over Southern Connecticut State in their final regular season contest on Saturday. The Skyhawks also won the regular season crown in 2006. Stonehill is ranked first in the NCAA Division II North Regional poll for the fourth-straight week. NCAA Tournament bids will be announced next Monday, November 2, at 11 a.m.
