RINDGE, N.H. (October 7, 2009) - Franklin Pierce University used two goals late in the first half to fuel at 3-1 upset victory over Stonehill College, ranked fourth in this week's Kookaburra/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II poll, in Northeast-10 Conference field hockey action at Sodexo Field tonight.

Senior Katie Debler (Walpole, Mass./Walpole) came off the bench to lead Franklin Pierce with a goal and assist. The Ravens also got goals from freshman Alyssa Juszczyk (Warren, Mass./Quaboag Regional) and sophomore Danielle Dolan (West Brookfield, Mass./Quaboag Regional).

Senior Claire Hourihan (East Amherst, N.Y./Williamsville North) scored the lone goal for Stonehill that cut the Skyhawks deficit to 2-1 15:55 into the second half. It marks the sixth-straight game she has scored a goal for the Skyhawks as her 43rd career goal moved her into sole possession of second place on Stonehill's career list behind only Caitlin Gleason's (2004-07) record total of 53.

Sophomore Brittany Nyzio (Attleboro, Mass./Worcester Academy) preserved the win with five saves (all second half) in goal for Franklin Pierce. Junior Courtney Osier (South Dennis, Mass./Dennis-Yarmouth) stopped two shots in goal for Stonehill who finished with an 18-11 advantage in shots for the match.

The game appeared destined to go into the half scoreless when Franklin Pierce gained the advantage with two goals in the final three minutes of the first half. Juszczyk put the Ravens in front 2:58 before the break when she knocked in a loose ball during a scramble in front of the goal for her first collegiate goal. Debler doubled the Ravens lead 1:54 later and just 1:04 before halftime when she scored off a rebound, assisted by junior Jordan Baillargeon (Westfield, Mass./Westfield).

Hourihan's team-leading 14th goal of the year looked to spur a Stonehill comeback at the 50:55 mark, but Franklin Pierce answered when Debler fed Dolan for her fourth of the season less than six minutes later at 56:28 to round out the scoring and snap the Skyhawks ten-game winning streak.

Stonehill (10-3, 4-1 NE-10) looks to bounce back on Friday afternoon when it hosts Saint Anselm College at 4 p.m. Franklin Pierce (7-6, 3-2 NE-10) will take its three game winning streak to Adelphi University on Saturday at noon.
